If you’re looking for a rewarding career supporting a meaningful mission, along with generous benefits and recognition, consider joining us at CalOptima Health!About the PositionThe Personal Care Attendant (PCA), under the direction and supervision of the Day Center Supervisor, will provide personal care services to PACE participants in the day health center, including other duties as assigned to assist the primary care, therapy and adult day health staff.Duties & ResponsibilitiesParticipates in a mission-driven culture of high-quality performance, with a member focus on customer service, consistency, dignity and accountability.Assists the team in carrying out department responsibilities and collaborates with others to support short- and long-term goals/priorities for the department.Provides personal care and escort assistance in accordance with individual treatment plans including peri-care, grooming, dressing, showering, bathing, toileting, feeding and ambulation.Reports visible changes in the participant’s condition to the Day Center Supervisor and PCA municates participant health and safety concerns under the guidance and supervision of the Day Center Supervisor and PCA Lead.Demonstrates safe practices utilizing proper body mechanics and compliance with universal precautions.Participates in social and recreation activities with participants as appropriate.Conducts daily physical activities, ergonomically, while assisting frail elders to avoid injury.Implements interventions to training, as directed by rehabilitation and nursing staff, including use of mechanical assistance for participant transfers, mobility and patient care.Assists with food service delivery and monitoring during mealtimes.Documents services rendered pletes other projects and duties as assigned.Experience & EducationHigh School diploma or equivalent pletion of Home Health Aide (HHA), Medical Assistant program, Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) license required.1 year of experience with the frail or elderly population required.6 months of clinical experience as a Personal Care Aide, CNA, LVN or Medical Assistant required.An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the position such as those listed above is also qualifying.CPR and First-Aid Certification required or must be obtained within six (6) months of date of plete and pass the PACE approved curriculum for Personal Care Aides upon plete and pass the ServSafe Food Handler Certificate upon hire.Preferred QualificationsBilingual in English and in one of CalOptima Health's defined threshold language (Arabic, Chinese, Farsi, Korean, Spanish, Vietnamese).Physical Demands and Work EnvironmentThe physical demands and work environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Move/Transport/Position: Assists/supports participants for up to 75 lb. & for ambulation up to 200 feet at a time.Position/Install/ Remove: Reaches toward and/or over participants to assist them and moves and/or picks up items (e.g., buckling in participants, setting up a walker, caring for other needs of participants, etc.).Moves/Traverses: Moves throughout the PACE Center and tends to participant needs.Positions Self: Positions self to feed, toilet, bathe, groom or tend to other related needs of participants.Operates/Uses/ Prepares/ Inspects: Provides assistance using utensils to feed, groom, bathe or provide other care to participants.Detects/Determines/ Identifies/ Recognizes/ Observes/Inspects/ Assesses: Monitors and reports on participant’s functions and changes in munication: Communicates with participants, families and staff about participant's condition and needs.
