OverviewGeneral Manager II Store 6715 Austin TX – Advance Auto PartsThe role is a leadership position responsible for achieving financial metrics, maintaining service standards, and growing the business while inspiring the team and helping Customers succeed.What is a General Manager? A General Manager must be committed to inspiring our team, helping our Customers succeed and growing our business with integrity. This is a professional level sales and management position capable of supporting functions on both sides of the business. The role requires understanding of store systems, automotive systems, parts knowledge and the ability to identify, troubleshoot and assist with DIY projects. The GM develops and maintains Professional Customer relationships and program growth and is accountable for achieving financial metrics and maintaining service and appearance standards. The position is exempt and requires a minimum of 50-55 hours per week (excluding meal breaks). The average schedule is 5-6 days a week, 11 hour shifts, including rotating nights and weekends, with an hour for lunch. Additional hours may be required based on staffing, store conditions, sales to target, and other business demands.Primary ResponsibilitiesAchieve overall store sales goals and service objectivesManage and grow Professional Customer relationships and sales, including holding the team accountable to Customer action plansRecruitment, hiring, development, performance management, coaching, scheduling and engagement of store Team MembersEnsure execution of inventory and operational standardsCoach Team Members to deliver on Customer expectations (DIY and Professional)Manage on-duty responsibilities (coaching, floor/phone management, task assignment, safety, opening/closing duties)Lead change managementFoster diversity and a respectful environment for Customers and Team MembersSecondary ResponsibilitiesProvide DIY services including battery installation and testing, wiper installation, etc.Assist District/Region in other functions upon requestSuccess FactorsFriendly communicationAbility to locate and stock partsSafety knowledge and skillsAbility to become ASE P2 certified or ASE ready equivalentAbility to execute and train on project and product quality recommendationsAdvanced parts lookup and sourcingAbility to source from multiple channels including special ordersAbility to implement and train all store operational processes and procedures, and testing/diagnostic equipment for DIY servicesAbility to implement and train inventory systems and store equipmentAbility to implement and train POS and Parts lookup systemsAbility to review and analyze P&L statementsAbility to recruit, select, hire and develop quality Team MembersAbility to build and grow relationships with Professional CustomersEssential Job Skills Necessary for SuccessWorking knowledge of automotive systems preferredSpeak and write English (Spanish a plus); communicate effectively and build relationships with Customers, peers and managementProficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel (PowerPoint preferred)Ability to calculate figures such as discounts, percentages, sales increases, and gross profit percentAbility to review and analyze business reports (P&L)Hold others accountable, inspect work quality and provide constructive feedbackAbility to work days, evenings and weekends as needed2-3 years of experience managing a team of 10-20 in a fast-paced retail environmentSuccessful experience managing profitability and business acumenEducationHigh school diploma or GED; Bachelor’s degree in business or related area preferredCertificates, Licenses, RegistrationsMust have a valid driver’s licenseASE certification preferred, but not requiredPhysical DemandsThe physical demands and work environment described here are representative of those that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this job, with or without reasonable accommodation. Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.Work EnvironmentThe work environment is usually indoors but may occasionally be outside and exposed to various weather conditions while performing tasks such as installing batteries and wiper blades. Occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts, high places, chemicals, risk of electrical shock, and vibration. Noise level is usually moderate.Position is eligible for sales commission based on individual or store pensation and BenefitsBase salary will likely be between $53,000 and $69,000 plus Bonus. Actual salary will be determined by the hiring manager later in the process and is based on experience and qualifications.BonusMetric 1: 6% commission on every gross margin dollar, paid every 4 weeksMetric 2: 0.45% commission of every controllable profit dollar, paid quarterlyBenefits1st Day: 401k with company match (fully vested, up to 4%)After 30 days: Medical, Dental, Vision, 401k, PTO, Life, STD/LTD, pet insurance, EAPGM IIThe GM II role requires a minimum 52–55-hour work week, with 1 weekend off per month. A GM II store will have a Retail Price Plan (RPP) and Customer Pricing Plan (CPP) and 3 key-holders with 7-15 Team Members. Stores receive 2-5 truckloads of freight from a DC weekly.
