This position assumes the responsibility for all operations within the Garden Center Department including hiring, training, and career development of all staff while maintaining the quality and safety of personnel. You will assist in the creation of the annual budget and create the plan to achieve it. The General Manager develops and reviews benchmarks weekly, monthly, and yearly to make sure their department is on track and that any adjustments needed are made. You will direct and oversee all Garden Center Department staff and functions to ensure profitability and promote the culture of our company inside and outside of the organization.ResponsibilitiesCreate 1-year plan for Garden Center Department to reach the yearly goals utilizing all company tools to drive resultsDevelop and track benchmarks to measure success weekly, monthly and yearlyManage, recruit, hire, train, and evaluate performance of Garden Center employees to consistently meet goals/expectations and comply with company policies, procedures, objectivesResponsible for yearly purchasing plan for inventory as well as all aspects of pricing, turns, ordering, shipping, approving invoices, quality control, etc.Oversee Garden Center registers, POS system, and related dataMaintain an elevated store presentation by training and overseeing execution of product displays with an eye for detailDeliver a high level of communication with staff dailyDevelop the plans and people to give our clients the best service and experience they’ve ever hadQualificationsBachelor’s degree or higher5+ years of management experienceSales and customer service experienceFlexible hours during busy season including holidays and weekends when appropriateStrong leadership, management, interpersonal, and organizational skillsDependable team player that aligns with management and other staff membersExtensive knowledge of POS software and ability to problem solveExcellent plant knowledge and other products used in the nursery a plusEnthusiastic about the job and the companyAbility to grow and manage staff including but not limited to career development, reviews, disciplinary and time managementUnderstand and analyze financial information and create budgetsSalary DOE: $65,000 to $95,000Benefits include Health, Life, STD, Accident, Dental, Vision, 401K with company match, PTO, Holiday Pay, Phone Reimbursement Allowance, and company discounts.
