You understand how to balance relationship building with business objectives.Essential Functions:The primary functions of this position include providing leadership to a given geographical area of work or grouping of projects. The position will report to the VP of division.Responsibilities:Assist in developing the future course [vision] of the business group, communicate that vision, and provide those involved with the resources and support necessary to accomplish it.Oversee safety compliance for policies, training, and audits to create a safe work environment for all employees.Attend industry related conferences and participate in local industry organizations.Monitor G&A expenses of the business group for appropriateness and adherence to pre-determined budgets.Work with corporate leadership to develop the necessary growth and profit projections, financial forecast, and budgets as part of the yearly goal setting process.Maximize profitability for the Division.Responsible for streamlining construction operations to achieve operational excellence.Establish project team objectives and performance standards as defined by Company goals, financial objectives and policies and procedures.Work closely with Business Development to provide the necessary Operations input and support, including client contacts, market intelligence, participating in presentations, preparing proposals, marketing, and other related activities.Oversee estimating to create a winning strategy for project pursuits.Be a key supporter of and participant in all necessary employee recruitment, retention (coaching) and training initiatives, and make sure project team members do the same, where appropriate.Oversee the Project Turnover process to make sure a smooth and informative transition is accomplished.Support Human Resources to ensure the proper orientation and training of all new team members.Provide all required support to project teams, monitor their progress, and make timely adjustments whenever needed.Support all cost engineering needs of project teams and provide appropriate input, where appropriate.Oversee project teams in making sure the Project Closeout process is performed according to Company policies and procedures.When necessary, be directly involved in resolving disputes so as to minimize their negative effect on the Company and its personnel.Assist/advise PM’s in preventing and managing construction claimsAssume a leadership role in the Company’s annual Strategic Planning process and follow through with any necessary actions to ensure the successful achievement of all stated goals.Promote a strong, positive working relationship of all project team members and Company department personnel.Other responsibilities, as assigned.Skills & Qualifications:A demonstrated understanding of how to effectively execute multiple-project management techniques. Must have a minimum of 10 years of heavy mechanical contracting management experience, as evidenced by an ever-increasing leadership role.Demonstrates a strong initiative regardless of the task at hand.
