OverviewCertified Family Partner role at LifePath Systems. A Family Partner is an experienced, trained primary caregiver to an individual with mental illness or serious emotional disturbance who provides peer mentoring, education, and support to the caregivers of the individual who is receiving mental health community services. The Family Partner works with caregivers and families of youth with serious emotional disturbance to build family empowerment and advocacy to promote long-term recovery and resiliency.The Family Partner is an essential part of the treatment team and works alongside the Case Manager, Counselors, and Psychiatrist to ensure services are provided in a trauma-informed, person-/family-centered model, and in a linguistically and culturally appropriate way. They use their lived experience to inspire hope and model relationships built on respect, trust, and validation. By sharing their own experiences, the Family Partner helps caregivers by providing education and emotional support, walking alongside the family on their journey as an ally and advocate for caregivers of children with mental health concerns. This mutuality, often called “peerness,” promotes connection, builds rapport, and inspires hope.Family Partner services include, but are not limited to: introducing the family to the treatment process; modeling self-advocacy skills; providing information; making referrals; delivering treatment interventions based on evidence-based practices, certifications, and scope; and assisting identification of natural/non-traditional and community supports. Family partner services are strongly recommended to help address treatment barriers and engage families in services at every level of care.This position will be community-based and require travel within Collin County for service delivery. Some travel may be required out of town for credentials, and some travel may require use of a personal vehicle.ResponsibilitiesIntroduce the family to the treatment process; model self-advocacy skills; provide information; and make referrals.Provide education and emotional support to caregivers using lived experience to inspire hope and advocacy.Deliver treatment interventions based on evidence-based practices, certifications, and scope; assist identification of natural/non-traditional and community supports.Collaborate with the treatment team to ensure trauma-informed, person-/family-centered care that is linguistically and culturally appropriate.Travel within Collin County for service delivery; may travel out of town for credential attainment; some travel may use a personal vehicle.QualificationsEducation, Training and Experience (including licensure and certification): High School Diploma or High School Equivalency Certificate (GED) issued in accordance with the law of the issuing state.Must be a parent or legally authorized representative (LAR) with at least one year of experience raising a child or adolescent with an emotional or mental health issue. They may be a birth parent, adoptive parent, foster parent, or family member standing in for an absent parent or a person chosen by the family or youth to have the role of parent.Must have at least one year of experience navigating a child-serving system (e.g., mental health, juvenile justice, social security and/or special education system).Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Proficiency in standard Microsoft Office programs and systems databases; strong professional verbal and written communication skills; ability to empathize with and effectively partner with families and the treatment team. willingness to disclose their lived experience, where appropriate, for empowerment; willingness to work flexible hours; reliable transportation and valid driver’s license; knowledge of mental health disorders and recovery concepts; willingness to attend Certified Family Partner training and other meetings and trainings as needed.Seniority levelEntry levelEmployment typeFull-timeJob functionOtherIndustries: Mental Health CareReferrals increase your chances of interviewing at LifePath Systems by 2x.
