Job SummaryThe Senior Manager of NPI oversees the entire product launch cycle, from initial concept through design, validation, pilot launch, and operations of new mechanical, electrical and critical power infrastructure. The Senior Manager is responsible for ensuring technical excellence, manufacturability, and compliance with performance, quality, and time-to-market objectives for each new product with cross-functional and regionally diverse teams. The ideal candidate will possess a robust background in technical program management of MCE design and demonstrates strong cross-functional leadership skills. The candidate may support both regional and global category management functions. Responsibilities Product Development – Accountable for new product insertion implementation and process. Product Development – Leads a cross functional team in the design and launch of Major Capital Equipment (MCE), focusing on performance, vendor quality, and manufacturing scalability. Product Development – Manages the entire NPI process, encompassing engineering development, Factory Witness Testing, and strategic insertion while validating the business case justification to ensure validity of NPI. Product Development – Collaborates with cross-functional teams, including Engineering Design, Construction, Commissioning, and Operations to define product specifications and ensure optimal system-level performance. Product Development – Oversees testing of product performance and quality controls to meet product requirements. Product Development – Incorporates Design for Manufacturability (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA), and cost optimization strategies into early-stage product designs. Product Development – Leads cross-functional design reviews and facilitates stage-gate project approvals. Product Development – Develops and maintains comprehensive technical, engineering and procurement documentation, including 2D/3D drawings, BOMs, technical submittals, SOOs, FWT scripts, scope delineations, vendor costing forms, Quality and Testing reports. Product Development – Drives continuous improvement initiatives for NPI processes, tools, and best practices in Major Capital Equipment development. Product Development – Drives cross-functional technical engagements with internal and external stakeholders. Product Development – Drives product innovation and value engineering. Technology Evaluation & Selection – Skilled in comparing technical specifications, performance metrics, and lifecycle cost for major capital equipment. Technology Evaluation & Selection – Experience conducting technology benchmarking and assessing emerging solutions for efficiency, resilience, and scalability. Vendor & OEM Engagement – Proven track record of technical due diligence during vendor selection processes. Vendor & OEM Engagement – Builds and maintains supplier relationships and drives improvement in the areas of cost, risk, and quality. Vendor & OEM Engagement – Identifies and mitigates supplier risks in design, product definition, new product insertion and root cause analyses. Vendor & OEM Engagement – Educates suppliers on the mechanics of doing business with Equinix. Vendor & OEM Engagement – Identifies and resolves various supplier management problems. Vendor & OEM Engagement – Supports selection of new suppliers. Vendor & OEM Engagement – Experience managing Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) with OEM and contractor teams. Cost & Performance Analysis – Ability to perform total cost of ownership (TCO) analysis for critical power systems, factoring in CAPEX, OPEX, efficiency, and maintenance. Cost & Performance Analysis – Identifies performance-to-cost trade-offs for large-scale deployments. Cost & Performance Analysis – Proficiency in budget estimation, bid evaluation, and change order review for power infrastructure projects. Cost Savings – Drives and delivers cost savings opportunities above and beyond expectations. Cost Savings – Owns cost savings proposals and interacts closely with suppliers and internal customers to achieve the stated benefits. Qualifications 8+ years of experience in new product development for mechanical, electrical, and critical power infrastructure. Experience launching products in a global environment. Proven track record of managing NPI programs through a Phase Gate process. Strong analytical, organizational, and cross-functional leadership skills. Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities across technical and business functions. Bachelor/'s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil/Construction Engineering or equivalent experience required. Master/'s degree preferred. The targeted pay range for this position in the following location is / locations are: United States - Dallas Infomart Office DAI : 155,000 - 233,000 USD / Annual Canada - Toronto Office TRO : 136,000 - 204,000 CAD / Annual Our pay ranges reflect the minimum and maximum target for new hire pay for the full-time position determined by role, level, and location. The pay range shown is based on our compensation structure in place at the time of posting and may be updated periodically based on business needs. Individual pay is based on additional factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education and/or training. The targeted pay range listed reflects the base pay only and does not include bonus, equity, or benefits. Employees are eligible for bonus, and equity may be offered depending on the position.
