OverviewGeneral Manager Hauling HC at Republic Services. Lead one of the Company’s Business Units with full profit and loss responsibility. Manages an infrastructure team across Operations, Fleet Management, Sales, Finance, Human Resources, Safety and Environmental Compliance, and Environmental Engineering. Executes local market strategy aligned with Area plans and drives change management to sustain new processes for growth and durability of the Business Unit. Responsible for collection and post-collections operations (transfer stations, landfills, recycling centers/complexes); represents the Company to customers, vendors, municipal customers, and external stakeholders; oversees safety programs and ensures regulatory and ethical compliance.Principal ResponsibilitiesImplements and executes plans to complement the Area’s strategic operating plan; champions execution of the strategic plan and tactical initiatives within the Business Unit, including safe operations, customer experience, efficiency, and profitability.Collaborates with Area and Region sales management to drive commercial, industrial, residential and municipal sales to achieve growth, exceed customer expectations, and optimize profitability.Oversees safety and accident prevention programs to maintain a safe, productive work environment.Leads operations to ensure compliance with environmental, operating, regulatory, safety, accounting and ethics standards.Manages performance and talent development.Builds and maintains relations with government, community and environmental groups.Travel up to 30% as required.Performs other job-related duties as assigned.Experience, Education, CertificationHigh school diploma or G.E.D.Minimum of 3 years of progressive leadership and management responsibility.Minimum of 3 years of P&L experience.PreferredExperience in the environmental services industry.Experience with Fortune 500 companies.Experience in labor relations.Minimum of 7 years progressive leadership and management responsibility.Other Knowledge, Skills, AbilitiesStrong business acumen, strategic thinking, and ability to execute strategy.Ability to lead large-scale change initiatives and direct large teams of functional experts.Ability to build and lead sales teams; coaching and talent development.Process-oriented with a results-driven mindset and ability to marshal resources to achieve goals.Analytical, problem-solving, critical-thinking and decision-making skills.Ability to optimize near-term results for long-term sustainable success.Collaborative; able to work with teams across multiple sites and business lines (hauling, landfills, recycling, new business).Rewarding Compensation and BenefitsComprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage.Health care and dependent care spending accounts.Short- and long-term disability.Life insurance and AD&D.Employee and Family Assistance Program (EAP).Employee discount programs.Retirement plan with generous company match.Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP).The statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work and are not exhaustive.
