This innovation supports the critical evolution from research applications to clinical deployment, empowering laboratories to advance their digital pathology capabilities while reducing chemical waste, improving operational efficiency, and expanding diagnostic possibilities.Position OverviewThe Director of Medical Affairs drives medical and scientific communications at Pictor Labs for the US and globally. She/he will lead efforts to promote appropriate use of our regulated products in clinical markets and unregulated products in research settings. This role requires management of key opinion leader relationships, physician/expert advisory board(s), and scientific communication / publication / conference planning. This Director will oversee the design, conduct, and publication of health economic analyses to demonstrate successful implementation and adoption of our products.Key ResponsibilitiesProvide peer-to-peer consultation related to appropriate use of our regulated productsEngage customers in research settings on the scientific basis of our solutionsEnsure timely completion of Medical Request Forms for product usersReview and comment on any external facing materials for scientific and clinical appropriateness specifically related to any claimsPresent clinical or scientific data about Pictor Labs’ products in written, oral, or other media formats to disseminate evidence about virtual stainingLead development of educational content related to Pictor Labs productsSupport evidence generation efforts required for regulatory submission and maintenance for US and global agenciesWrite, collaborate, and approve manuscripts for peer-reviewed journal submissionsSupport commercial and marketing activities through providing clinical and scientific information with potential customers or for media campaignsManage team of employees or contractors to ensure completion of all medical affairs activities.Assist Chief Medical Officer and teams across Pictor Labs in accomplishing company objectives especially when benefiting from professional expertiseCollaborate with AI/ML and product teams to translate algorithm performance into clinically meaningful outcomes, and contribute to ethically responsible communication of digital diagnostics.Collaborate with marketing team to translate complex scientific data into compelling, brand-consistent messaging that resonates with target audiences while maintaining regulatory complianceProvide medical and scientific review of customer-facing materials to ensure regulatory compliance while preserving marketing impact and brand messagingKey Opinion Leader ManagementDevelop and maintain strong network of key opinion leaders that are available to assist other areas of company for product feedback, clinical trial participation, ability to speak or engage about virtual staining to colleagues, or other needed functionsBuild and support an expert (physician) advisory board that provides guidance on the clinical and scientific direction of company while serving as ambassadors for our productsMonitor scientific literature, government regulations, and market environment to advise company leaders on issues impacting our products or businessScientific Communication PlanningDevelop and execute plans for publications, abstracts, and conference presentations that promote our product adoption through collaboration with medical and product teamsCoordinate education related to ML/AI and engineering efforts to be understandable by clinical and scientific audiencesSupport planning and presence at conferences and with select customer meetings to ensure appropriate discussion of the clinical and scientific aspects of our productsHealth EconomicsLead the design, execution, and dissemination of evidence that supports the operational use of virtual staining including health economic and implementation studies.Conduct analyses on cost savings, time savings, and operational efficiencies through communicating with partners and customersRequired QualificationsMasters degree or higher in a relevant field with experience in a clinical area.Experience working in medical affairs (MSL) or experience in pathology / histopathology / digital pathology is required. Experience in both will be preferred.5 year work experience minimum in a clinical or regulated medical industry setting.Experience with evidence generation and dissemination including scientific writing and speaking. Publication history in peer-reviewed journals required.
