Director, Business Development, Region NorthBase pay range: $193,000.00/yr - $246,000.00/yrWärtsilä Energy leads the transition towards a 100% renewable energy future. We help our partners accelerate decarbonisation journeys through market-leading technologies and power system modelling expertise, including decarbonisation services, future-fuel enabled balancing power plants, hybrid solutions, energy storage and the GEMS Digital Energy Platform.Location: The position is permanent and we are open to candidates based anywhere in the U.S. While ideal for someone in the Central or Eastern Time Zone, we are considering candidates in other U.S. regions as well as international locations.What you will be doingLead and drive Wärtsilä's Energy Business sales operations across the Northern region, developing strategic customer relationships and delivering business growth.Own the New Build Sales function for Engine Power Plants across the region, identifying opportunities, building client relationships, and securing new business.Report to the Energy Business Director for the region and collaborate to execute strategic initiatives and contribute to long-term growth.Lead the sales function, setting strategic direction and driving performance to achieve targets.Oversee large-scale sales projects with cross-functional collaboration and alignment with business objectives.Develop and implement sales strategies and policies for the assigned region; manage expansion, new product introductions, services sales, and active relationship management.Ensure customer focus by understanding customer drivers and managing relationships from new build through life-cycle perspectives.Establish and monitor sales performance metrics and targets (e.g., Order Intake, Margin) and create a rolling five-quarter forecast.Balance Wärtsilä’s sales policies in negotiations and internal reviews.Mentor and develop the sales team, fostering a culture of innovation, learning, and growth.Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients and partners to drive customer satisfaction and business development.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align sales strategies with broader business plans (e.g., Growth & Development and Services Sales).Utilize analytics and market insights to identify opportunities and improve effectiveness.Manage budgeting and resource allocation within the sales function.Develop thought leadership and participate in speaking engagements.To be successful in this role, we expect you to haveEducationBachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Energy Systems, or a related field.
