Job Description

The new Modesto Baseball Club is looking to hire a General Manager tasked with running the day-to-day operations of the organization and serving as the face of the franchise. The team, a member of the Pioneer Baseball League, an MLB Partner League, hosts 48 home games from late May through early pensation: The expected compensation for this role is $80,000 - $95,000. Offers for this role will be made within the parameters of the salary range provided. Years of experience, skills, and other factors are considered when determining the salary offered. Total compensation and offer package will include the following:Medical, Dental and Vision benefitsPaid time offRESPONSIBILITIES:Oversee the day-to-day operations of the business with an eye toward maximizing profits and entertaining fans.Establish team org chart and hire outstanding personnel to fill all available positions.Supervise staff, conduct staff meetings and meet with individual staff on a one-on-one basis.Assist in the development of marketing and sales strategies for hospitality and game-day tickets.Devise innovative promotional ideas and develop the team’s promotional calendar.Develop season ticket and mini-plan ticket pricing and sales campaign.Work with Ownership to develop paid media communications plan to promote team and sell tickets.Assist the merchandising department in creative ways to promote merchandise and manage the cost of goods.Assist the F&B director in setting quality standards for ballpark food and beverage, hiring of seasonal staff, and managing the cost of goods.Work with Director of Ballpark Operations & Head Groundskeeper to ensure first-rate facility and field.Serve as liaison with the team’s landlord, the City of Modesto and work with the city on ballpark improvements.Oversee all game and event-day entertainment, including music, P.A., videos, graphics, and on-field promotions.Monitor payables and receivables and ensure accurate preparation of weekly financial report to Ownership.Assist Finance Director in maintaining accurate accounting records and managing the team’s expenses.Prepare an annual budget and cash-flow analysis and update it on a monthly basis.Oversee preparation of all weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports.Oversee and work with the team’s manager, coaches, trainer and clubhouse attendant.Manage player housing/host families program.Manage team travel (i.e. bus schedule & hotel stays) and visiting team hotel (ensuring proper number of rooms).Serve as the team’s media and public relations point of contact and draft press releases.Devise social media strategy, monitor social media and ensure posts are happening frequently.Negotiate and review vendor contracts.Oversee the marketing and sales of non-game-day activities.Participate in all Pioneer Baseball League General Managers meetings and conference calls.Supervise, train and coach full-time and game-day staff.Work with Head Groundskeeper to decipher weather on game and event days.Ensure Box Office, Food & Beverage, and Merchandise sales are reconciled after each home game.Other duties as assigned.Strong work ethic and initiative are keys to this job as the hours can be long, but the environment is fun and fast-paced.QUALIFICATIONS:Previous experience in sports leadership role with a heavy operations bentExcellent written and oral communications skills along with strong organizational and interpersonal skillsInspirational leader with a “can do” attitude who can motivate, excite and bring out the best in a staffSocial media experience and an understanding of digital marketingBudgeting and financial experience is helpfulNegotiation, time management and conflict management skillsMust be team-oriented and pay close attention to detailsThe Modesto Professional Baseball Club is an equal-opportunity employer.
