OverviewThe Tucson Museum of Art & Historic Block seeks a Chief Advancement Officer to lead development and membership efforts, advance a comprehensive philanthropy program, and represent the museum publicly to funders, trustees, and community partners.ResponsibilitiesProvide innovative, visionary, and strategic leadership for all development functions, ensuring alignment with the museum’s mission and concert with the CEO and executive leadership team, shape strategies that align development initiatives with organizational goals to foster cross-department collaboration.Work with the CFO to design and implement strategies that maximize contributed and earned revenue.Develop and implement a comprehensive development plan and calendar with clear goals, timelines, and responsibilities.Partner with the Board of Trustees and Development Committee by reporting on fundraising progress, challenges, data analysis, and projections.Oversee the Events Manager to ensure successful fundraising events, donor cultivation programs, and facility rentals with strong donor engagement.Collaborate with the CEO to design and implement fundraising campaigns, including collateral materials and marketing strategies.Identify and pursue new strategic funding opportunities to strengthen long-term sustainability.Cultivate, solicit, and secure a 5% increase in major gifts ($5,000+) from individuals, corporations, and foundations while ensuring exceptional donor stewardship.Serve as a visible ambassador and advocate for the museum in major fundraising initiatives.Coordinate with affinity groups and committees as needed and assigned; act as liaison for Board, Gala Committee, and related activities.Oversee all elements of the TMA Gala and staff involvement; motivate, mentor, and evaluate development staff.Partner with Grants and Development Manager to ensure effective grant research, proposals, timely submissions, reports, and acknowledgments.Collaborate with the Membership and Development Manager to drive member recruitment, retention, and revenue growth.Work with the Events Manager to ensure excellent customer service and develop new rental opportunities and fundraising events.Adhere to all museum policies and procedures; perform additional duties as assigned.Minimum Requirements – Knowledge & SkillsBachelor’s degree in arts/non-profit administration, business, or related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.At least eight (8) years of progressive fundraising experience in a nonprofit, higher education, foundation, or corporate setting.Demonstrated success in developing and implementing cultivation, stewardship, and solicitation strategies resulting in significant major gifts.Proven experience in event management, including large-scale fundraising events and donor engagement.Proficiency with Altru (Blackbaud) or comparable CRM software, Microsoft Office, and donor communications tools.Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with diverse stakeholders including trustees, donors, members, visitors, volunteers, and staff.Collaborative, team-oriented leadership style with commitment to staff development and cross-departmental partnership.Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously.Experience in an arts and cultural organization or strong personal interest in the arts is preferred.Application MaterialsCover letter outlining your interest in the positionResume or curriculum vitaeTo ApplyTo apply, send application materials to: the Tucson Museum of ArtWe actively seek to employ a diverse group of people who embody our values and Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Access (IDEA) Plan.
