Main Functions The Rig Manager is responsible for all aspects of rig operations, including setup, takedown, and movement, as well as the safety of all crew members. The Rig Manager manages daily paperwork and other business matters related to the rig. Ensuring compliance with environmental and government regulations, the Rig Manager oversees production and costs. The role requires working knowledge of all parts of a Workover Rig, troubleshooting rig mechanics and equipment on site. Job Responsibilities Work beyond traditional hours, including weekends and holidays, to meet operational needs. Operations may require continuous work over several days, especially for 24-hour operations involving multiple shifts. Ability to work at heights up to or greater than 50 feet. Dependability is essential. Punctuality, proper attire, and attendance are mandatory. Unauthorized absences may lead to disciplinary action or termination. Provide field training and coaching for quality assurance. Enforce company policies and procedures. Maintain accurate inventory of tools and chemicals on location. Make cost-effective decisions aligned with company standards. Prepare rig tickets accurately and timely, including correct pricing and managing crew hours. Review Job Safety Analyses daily, ensure hazard identification is managed. Ensure all crew members wear appropriate PPE. Maintain communication with company representatives and follow the chain of command. Report all incidents related to health, safety, environment, and equipment damage immediately. Ensure compliance with federal, state, county, and city regulations. Support development, promotion, and self-development initiatives as directed. Keep current certifications (Well Control, CDL, PEC Safe Land, H2S, etc.) for all crew members. Maintain OSHA, Lease Operator, and Steel compliance records. Perform duties of rig operator, floor hand, and derrick hand as needed. Follow safe operating procedures to protect workers, environment, and equipment. Requirements Employment Requirements High school Diploma, GED, or equivalent. 1-2 years of experience as Floor Hand, Derrick Hand, Relief Operator, or Operator. Strong problem-solving and organizational skills. Excellent customer service and communication skills in English. Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment, including running pipe tally’s, calculating weights, and operating equipment. Supervisory well control training. Class B CDL license (preferred but not required). Physical ability to lift up to 75 pounds and perform physical tasks. Basic computer skills. Ability to work indoors and outdoors, standing, walking, and sitting as needed. Pass pre-employment exams, drug screening, and physical. Acceptable criminal history.
