MedStar Health is seeking a visionary and accomplished transplant hepatologist. MedStar operates four hospitals in the Baltimore region. This leadership role offers a unique opportunity to advance multidisciplinary care for advanced liver diseases in the Baltimore region and will be fully integrated with the program at the flagship institution.As the Medical Director of the Advanced Liver Diseases Program – MedStar Georgetown Transplant Institute (MGTI), Baltimore Region, the Physician will be responsible for leading the strategic development and integration of advanced liver disease care across MedStar member organizations in the region.Key ResponsibilitiesSpearhead the creation of a comprehensive advanced liver diseases program in the Baltimore region.Expand inpatient advanced liver disease service, transplant evaluation clinics, and post-transplant care.Continue to be integrated into MGTI’s transplant program, supporting transplants in the allied Washington crease the number of patients who undergo liver transplant evaluation and the number of patients who are listed for liver transplantation according to best medical practice while meeting program quality metrics.Collaborate with leadership from surgical oncology, hepatopancreatobiliary (HPB) surgery, and advanced gastrointestinal (GI) to enhance the continuum of care.Lead outreach efforts to increase referrals and expand access to care.Help to expand the number of HPB surgical cases through coordinated tumor clinic efforts.Oversee medical operations as pertaining to the liver transplant and hepatology programs in the Baltimore region, including ongoing assessment of overall staffing needs, resource utilization and optimization, and oversight of standards and practice of hepatology physicians and non-physician associates within the department.RequirementsIdeal Candidate Profile:Board certification in Transplant Hepatology. Candidates with board certification in Gastroenterology and extensive transplant hepatology experience will be considered.Proven track record of programmatic success and clinical leadership.Experience in liver transplantation, advanced liver disease management, and multidisciplinary collaboration.Strong interpersonal skills with a focus on team building, engagement, and high-quality patient care.Ability to oversee outreach and integrate services across multiple hospital sites. #J-18808-Ljbffr
