Job Description

OverviewHospitalist - Moonlighter – Central Florida. The Hospitalist provides high-quality, cost-effective, and evidence-based medical care to hospitalized patients. The Hospitalist cares for patients admitted at affiliated hospitals and supports surgical and specialty services through consultative internal medicine. The Hospitalist coordinates care at discharge and facilitates hand-offs to outpatient physicians.Responsibilities Assess, evaluate, and clinically manage patients in the acute facility, including taking histories and performing physical examinations. Diagnose and actively manage patient conditions, including daily patient care. Attend multidisciplinary rounds at site. Order, conduct, and interpret diagnostic studies and laboratory tests. Perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures (e.g., suturing, wound care, incision and drainage, splinting). Prescribe or recommend pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic therapies, including controlled medications. Consult appropriate physicians for patient care needs. Refer patients to appropriate sources of care as required. Ensure efficient utilization of resources while supporting clinical pathway implementation and compliance. Ensure appropriate and timely referrals to a tertiary care facility as indicated in consultation with the primary care physician or attending physician.Education, Training, Experience Doctorate degree in medicine (MD or DO). Completion of advanced graduate medical education in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine. Board Certified or Board Eligible (Internal Medicine or Family Medicine). Active Florida medical license in good standing. DEA license eligible/active.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Effective written, verbal, and electronic communication skills. Initiative, creativity, and problem-solving ability. Ability to collaborate with colleagues to provide quality healthcare. Ability to work under pressure. Computer literacy.Additional Qualifications Prior experience using an electronic medical records system (EPIC). Being bilingual is a plus, but not required.Relationship Reporting Reports to the Chief Medical Officer / Executive Director.Physical Requirements Communicate effectively with patients and staff. Be able to sit, stand, or view a computer screen for extended periods. Perform repetitive hand and wrist motions for extended periods. Be able to use hands and fingers to handle or feel.
