CDL A Driver Academy Trainee

JobSummary: Sysco has immediate job openings for CDL A Delivery Truck Driver Trainees without a CDL to train to become dependable Delivery Partners. You will train for your Class-A CDL, including how to safely operate a tractor-trailer, to unload/deliver various products to an assigned route schedule, and build relationships with each customer using a positive, friendly attitude and become familiar with their operations to meet needs and expectations.Duties andResponsibilities: Ability to unload product from trailer, by hand or using a hand cart, and place in designated customer storageareasTransporting product down ramps, stairs, or docks, in all weatherconditionsConstantly bending and twisting while loading and unloading product and retrieving items from thetrailerAbility to verify delivery of items with customer and obtain proper signatures. Contact management for authorization when there are discrepancies on invoice and communicate all errors/returnsPerform pre-trip and post-trip responsibilities following the Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and SyscopoliciesPickup, load and unload damaged goods and customer returns and complete necessarypaperworkComplete DOT logs (electronic or manual as required), company vehicle maintenance reports, and reconcile with appropriate company representative as requiredAbility to deliver product within assigned route schedule and time windows. Immediately inform the management team of anydeviationsQualifications: Must be 21+ years of ageMust obtain a valid CDL Permit and DOT medical certification prior to pre-employment background check*Must submit to and pass pre-employment testing (Drug Screen, Background Check)Must obtain Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) within ninety (90) days of start date to remain actively employedMust have one year Distribution/Warehouse experience or other military experience in lieu of*CDL permit and DOT medical certification may be obtained during SkillBridge program for eligible participants Veterans encouraged to apply.Licenses/CertificationsRequired: Driver’s License with a “clean” driving record (no single DUI in the last three years and no multiple DUIs within the last sevenyears)ProfessionalSkills: Strong communicationskillsGood mathematical and arithmetic skills.
