Together, we can make a significant difference in the lives of children and contribute to a brighter and healthier future for all.SummaryThe Cardiothoracic (CT) Surgery Program Coordinator is responsible for coordinating all aspects of the CT Surgery program in collaboration with CT Surgery providers and related care team members. The incumbent provides leadership and facilitation for ongoing CT Surgery programmatic development. This person also manages and facilitates the execution of short and long-term plans aligned with the goals pertinent to CT Surgery care provided in collaboration with multidisciplinary roles and specialties across the care continuum. This position is responsible for ensuring a multi-disciplinary approach to care and responsible for working with team members across the department and subspecialists to coordinate, oversee and monitor medical and psychosocial activities related to CT Surgery. Utilizes nursing skills and electronic resources to provide extensive patient/family education especially in the areas of pre-surgical readiness and post-surgical expectations related to areas of hospital course, physical activity, and anticipated therapeutic interventions.ResponsibilitiesCollaborate with Medical Director(s), administrative and clinical personnel within the Heart Center to assess overall programmatic needs, establish goals and objectives for the program, and to prioritize key initiatives; determine required resources for effective and efficient implementation of strategic initatives; participate in Heart Center committee meetings and strategy sessions related to overall Heart Center goals and objectives; and collaborate with the Medical Director(s), Sr. Leadership, and Management team to support the development and implementation of for the CT Surgery program.Coordinate and participate in multiple aspects of the CT surgery patient visit including: pre/post-surgical procedures, attending counseling sessions with cardiologist and cardiac surgeon, and providing tour of the heart center facility; coordinate and provide daily communication among medical, nursing, and support staff regarding CT Surgery patients; assist patients in the transition between diagnosis/evaluation and post-surgical care; provide information to families concerning resources for non-cardiac specific needs; and ensure timely communication to both external and internal teams, collaborators. Support CT Surgery consultative and follow-up efforts pre-surgery, during admission and ongoing follow-up.Work closely with multidisciplinary division managers, director or senior directors in the communication of new processes and/or system changes resulting from program work; work closely/collaborate with UT Southwestern Division of CT Surgery, Cardiology and Pediatrics to plan and communicate process improvements and changes; advise and consult on plans and processes for employee communication; and assess timely communication to referring physicians and families.Assist and promote identification/collection of necessary CT Surgery quality data elements across the continuum; develop a methodology to review and analyze data; perform data analysis including the development of conclusion and data validation; identify and incorporate CT Surgery best practice and benchmark information where applicable; present/discuss indicators to/with physicians, leadership, quality, and senior leaders;
