Job Title: Intake Therapist Profession: Social Worker Specialty: Adult Behavioral Health Duration: Grant-based Shift: Monday through Friday Hours per Shift: 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM Experience: Minimum of one year post-Master’s experience providing mental health treatment services to adults with severe mental illness License: Master’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, or Counseling with corresponding state licensure Certifications: Must obtain Qualified Mental Health Professional and Qualified Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities Professional credential within 120 days of hire. Must possess CAADC credential, or be on an approved registered certification Development Plan within six weeks of hire. Must-Have: Must have the ability to engage and develop therapeutic alliances with mental health consumers, their families, and supporters. Must be an expert in helping consumers identify their service needs and preferences, develop initial treatment plans, and transition to longer-term services based on their treatment plans. Must demonstrate effective organizational, verbal, and written communication skills. Description: The Intake Therapist is responsible for providing a welcoming experience and conducting thorough assessments with adult and adolescent mental health consumers. The role aims to determine service eligibility and identify service needs and preferences accurately. The Intake Therapist must maintain an acute awareness of all available services and supports that may benefit consumers and their families. Services are delivered in an office setting on a scheduled or walk-in basis. Some evening or weekend hours may be required. Responsibilities include conducting intake assessments to identify areas of need and service preferences. Documentation must be completed within 48 hours. Information gathering will include consumer self-reports, family member reports, and documented medical and treatment history. Utilization of motivational interviewing techniques is required to assess consumer motivation in addressing needs identified during the assessment process. The Intake Therapist will provide complete and accurate information about available services and supports. Assistance will be given to consumers in initiating the person-centered planning process. Development of safety plans is required based on needs identified during the assessment. Identifying consumers who require more extensive evaluation and facilitating referrals as needed is essential. Participation in scheduled clinical supervision, case consultations, and team meetings is expected. All face-to-face service activity and phone contact pertaining to consumers must be documented. Productivity standards must be met, and all documentation must be completed within expected timeframes. The Intake Therapist must maintain appropriate licensure and complete required training annually. Professional ethics and boundaries must be maintained. Compliance with agency policies and procedures is mandatory. Additional duties may be assigned as needed. Mileage reimbursement is provided when using a personal vehicle. Training paid for by the agency is available.
