They obtain data related to the treatments provided. PTAs collaborate with the PT to modify care as necessary. They assist the physical therapist in the treatment of individuals of all ages. Key responsibilities include helping patients stretch and exercise certain muscle groups. PTAs read instructions from the Physical Therapist. They work directly with the Physical Therapist to assist patients. PTAs speak with families to find the best at-home techniques. They keep the physical therapy area clean and organized. PTAs move patients from wheelchairs or walkers to the therapy area. They complete administrative tasks, such as scheduling appointments and filing paperwork. PTAs teach patients techniques like balance training.
