Job Description

Job Title: Interventional Radiology Technologist Profession: Tech Specialty: Special Procedures/IR Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Shift Hours per Shift: 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM Experience: One year of interventional radiology experience required License: State Radiology Technologist License Certifications: BLS, ARRT (R) Must-Have: ARRT (VI) within 18 months preferred Description: Must demonstrate thorough knowledge of human anatomy and physiology, as well as image quality. Must be able to communicate to patients the nature of the exam and relieve their anxiety. Demonstrates an understanding of patient positioning, imaging technique, radiation safety, imaging equipment, infection control, and quality control techniques. Demonstrates the ability to supervise students providing patient care, treatment, and services as part of their training. Applies knowledge to produce high-quality diagnostic images using professional expertise to meet or exceed department guidelines. Assumes responsibility for maintaining professional competence through participation in continuing education. Takes a customer service approach in all interactions with internal and external customers. Communicates clearly and concisely with all levels of individuals while complying with confidentiality requirements. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age-related needs of the patients served. Uses age-appropriate communication skills, addresses safety needs, provides patient teaching, and understands physical/functional growth and development. Uses imaging equipment, PACS, and EPIC to process and retain images and exam-related information. Utilizes radiation safety techniques and devices to minimize radiation exposure to patients and staff.
