This role leads and advises in mergers and acquisitions across the Novant Health footprint and expansion markets, including facilities, ambulatory surgery centers, hospitals and large physician practice affiliations. The ideal candidate has healthcare transactional experience with a special focus on innovative partnership models. This role reports and takes direction from the Vice President, Senior Assistant General Counsel over mergers and acquisitions.ResponsibilitiesAnalyzes the impact and application of federal and state health care laws and regulations, including reimbursement requirements, Stark, HIPAA, the Civil Monetary Penalties Law, fraud and abuse laws, and Medicare Conditions of Participation in connection with clinical, strategic, and business operations.Provides legal advice regarding relationships and transactions with hospitals, physicians, vendors, managed care companies, government and employers.Prepares, reviews, and supports negotiations of contracts for complex transactions with other providers and payors, incorporating state and federal health care regulatory requirements, as necessary.Supports growth, development of initiatives, and overall performance of strategy. Demonstrates dedication to meeting the expectations and requirements of stakeholders.Advises administration and management regarding corporate, business, and operational issues, including employee relations and personnel managementWorking with Chief Legal Officer and/or Deputy General Counsel assigns work to and supervises outside counsel’s performance of work.Demonstrates consistent use of sound judgment and objective analytical skillsDemonstrates strong interpersonal skills that build effective working relationshipsComplies with and supports department policies, procedures, and protocols.Reviews and prepares agreements and contractsWorks alongside team members to monitor and evolve practices for continuous process improvement.Provides reliable and well-researched advice on all manner of mattersMaintains professional competency, according to department policies, procedures, and protocols.QualificationsEducation: 4 Year / Bachelor’s Degree, required.
