OverviewENGIE North America’s Assistant General Counsel – Retail (AGC – Retail) will manage the legal affairs associated with ENGIE Resources LLC and its subsidiaries, which operate ENGIE’s commercial and industrial retail power and gas sales business in the United States (ENGIE’s US Retail Business). The AGC – Retail is based in Houston, TX and reports to the Chief Legal and Ethics Officer, North America (the North America CLO) with a matrixed relationship to the executive leading ENGIE’s US Retail Business and the Global Business Unit attorney managing retail.ResponsibilitiesDaily you will manage the legal affairs of ENGIE’s US Retail Business, including contract negotiations, compliance, risk management and litigation management.Provide legal and strategic guidance as part of the leadership team for ENGIE’s US Retail Business, ensuring compliance with a complex and evolving legal and regulatory framework governing the retail power industry in the United States.Manage a team of attorneys and legal professionals focused on ENGIE’s US Retail Business.Develop a network of reliable external legal advisors and coordinate and manage relationships with outside counsel, monitoring and controlling legal spend to ensure cost‑effective legal support.Perform other responsibilities as defined by the North America CLO or the executive leading ENGIE’s US Retail Business.QualificationsJuris Doctorate from an ABA-accredited law school.Licensed to practice law in at least one state in the United States with retail electricity choice (e.g., Texas, New York, Massachusetts).At least ten (10) years of combined legal experience in the described areas.At least five (5) years of experience in a major corporation in a corporate legal department.Prior energy industry experience with a company focusing on retail power sales.Experience in planning and organizing legal work to meet objectives while achieving quality and value.Flexibility to handle additional responsibilities as defined by leadership.Additional DetailsHybrid work policy eligible.Domestic travel up to 10% of the time, with some overnight trips.Must possess a valid U.S. driver’s license/clean driving record.Must be willing and able to comply with all ENGIE ethics and safety policies.Work environment and accommodations as required to perform essential functions; ENGIE is an equal opportunity employer and complies with applicable pensation and BenefitsSalary Range: $227,000.00 – $347,990.00 USD annually. This represents the average expected pay range for a qualified candidate. In addition to base pay, this position is eligible for a competitive bonus/incentive plan.
