As a Project Controls Associate, you will support field-level progress tracking and schedule data gathering on shipbuilding projects. Working closely with our Jr. Project Controls Engineer, you’ll play a key role in helping ensure accurate schedule updates, field coordination, and project reporting. This role is ideal for someone who’s organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in dynamic shipyard environments. You’ll split your time between walking the ships to gather updates and working with the team to keep progress tools current and accurate.About The JobWalk ships regularly to gather progress updates from production supervisors and craft leadsCollect and organize schedule data for at least two active ship projectsInput field updates into spreadsheets or project tracking tools under guidanceTrack open items, delays, and scheduled activities that require follow-upCoordinate with engineering, production, and procurement teams to verify schedule statusSupport documentation of changes, field conditions, and progress photosAssist with meeting prep and note-taking during internal coordination check-insHelp maintain file organization and naming consistency for schedule and reporting documentsProvide general support to the Jr. Project Controls Engineer and broader project controls teamAbout YouMinimum Qualifications:1–3 years of experience in project controls, field coordination, or project supportComfortable working on-site in shipyard or construction environmentsBasic knowledge of Microsoft Excel and general file management practicesStrong attention to detail and reliability in following up on tasksSoft SkillsClear and respectful communication with field staff and project teamsAbility to stay organized while juggling multiple inputs and updatesWillingness to learn and take ownership of small tasks that support bigger goalsAdaptable mindset and ability to work both independently and alongside othersPreferred QualificationsWhile not required, the following backgrounds and skills are considered a strong plus:1–3 years of experience in project controls, field coordination, production tracking, or construction adminPrevious work in shipbuilding, industrial construction, offshore, or manufacturing environmentsFamiliarity with Microsoft Project, Primavera P6, or progress-tracking templatesExperience gathering status updates from field teams or entering production data into spreadsheetsAssociate’s degree or technical training in construction management, marine technology, or engineering supportMilitary logistics, maintenance tracking, or operational coordination experienceAbility to interpret schedules, task lists, or Gantt chartsComfortable walking large project sites and communicating with production supervisors or craft leadsStrong aptitude for organization, task follow-through, and learning new tools or systemsWe’re open to candidates who may not check every box but demonstrate a strong willingness to learn, a proactive mindset, and a clear interest in project execution support.Location NoteThis role supports shipyard projects located in the Houma, Lousiana Area. While we prefer candidates who live nearby or are familiar with the region, we also welcome applicants from Greater New Orleans or Houston who are comfortable with regular travel to the project site.
