OverviewZachary Piper Solutions is currently seeking a Backend Python Developer with aerospace experience to join a C2 mission software effort in Seattle, Washington. You will be responsible for developing ground satellite operations software using Python and AWS services. Don't worry, you do not need to be an expert in satellites or understand space! Satellites are just flying servers you can connect to every 90 minutes but we connect to hundreds of them.You will develop Python microservices deployed either to the cloud or to on-premise environments with a focus on scalability, security, cost, and performance of the software. You collaborate with cross-functional teams, including satellite operators and other software engineers, to understand requirements, implement new features, and troubleshoot issues. Your strong knowledge of Kubernetes, AWS services, and software development best practices will enable you to optimize resource utilization and automate processes, ultimately contributing to the efficient and reliable operations of thousands of satellites.LocationLocation: Seattle, Washington - Hybrid Remote (2 days on 3 days home)Tech SkillsProficiency in Python and Java or C++Experience deploying and maintaining software in KubernetesExperience with AWS services such as Lambda, ECS, EKS, CloudWatch, S3, EFS/EBS, EC2, and RDSStrong knowledge of containerized applications and serverless architectureStrong knowledge of designing, analyzing, and troubleshooting APIs services, distributed NoSQL and relational databases, caching systems, event-driven and multi-tier architecturesStrong knowledge of task automation and CI/CD pipeline building with GitHub or GitLabFamiliarity with Git and GitLab or similar framework for version controlSoft SkillsDeep technical analysis and troubleshooting skillsIndependent self-starter; able to complete projects on time with minimal guidanceA high standard for software maintainability, quality, resilience, and performanceStrong cross-functional communication between a frontend, backend engineers and product managerBackground QualificationsMust be a U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI clearance (Currently cleared preferred - though low scif time)Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science (or related field)4+ years [professional] experience in backend development, DevOps, or other related role.
