Position Title: Transfer Admission CounselorReports To: Director of Transfer AdmissionPosition SummaryThe Transfer Admission Counselor is responsible for the successful recruitment and enrollment of prospective transfer students. A key indicator of success will be achieving the enrollment goals set for each Fall and Spring start. The Transfer Admission Counselor will be responsible for on-campus coverage 4 days per week and one day set aside for minimal remote travel. Travel days will be assigned to attend off-campus recruitment events, including but not limited to college fairs, community college visits, and other assigned events to represent the University and its undergraduate programs.The Transfer Admission Counselor will assist and participate in on-campus undergraduate prospective student events, including open house(s), information sessions, webinars, and new student orientation. The Transfer Admission Counselor is also responsible for nurturing prospective students throughout the enrollment lifecycle from lead to admitted student.Duties/Responsibilities:Recruitment & EventsResponsible for representing Dominican University at recruitment events, including but not limited to college fairs, community college events, and visits, with the goal of generating new transfer student leads and promoting Dominican University undergraduate programs.Work with the Director of Transfer Admission to develop recruitment strategies and tactics that will maximize opportunities related to conversion and yield.Implement and carry out recruitment strategies and tactics. Report back on results from all recruitment activities with quantitative and qualitative information.Conduct onsite and virtual presentations for prospective students, families, community college advisors, and other contacts about specific undergraduate transfer programs.Present at on-campus virtual prospective student events, including but not limited to Discover Dominican open house(s), information sessions, webinars, and new student orientation.Conducts admissions presentations and provides one-on-one appointments with students and families in-person, by phone, or virtually.Acts as a point-of-contact for an assigned community college territory (tertiary, non-travel).Attends assigned off-campus events, visits, and other duties assigned within the community college territory.Collaborates with other offices at Dominican to meet the needs of enrolling transfer students, facilitating seamless delivery of services.Contributes to communication planning and content of transfer marketing materials.Supports the Transfer Team’s Assistant Director(s), Associate Director, and Director at community college events both on- and off-campus, as needed.Responsible for proactive outreach throughout the prospective student lifecycle, including phone, email, in-person, and text messaging.Log all calls, emails, and walk-ins in the CRM system (Slate) to ensure all interactions are logged and can be reported on.Participate in call projects and assist with inbound phone, email, and walk-ins to ensure customer service levels are being met.Handle a wide variety of tasks in a busy service-oriented atmosphere; establishes priorities utilizing excellent organizational ability and interpersonal skills.Prospective Student AdvisingCounsel prospective students and their families on Dominican University admission processes, policies, and educational opportunities at various stages of the college search and enrollment process.Advises students on transfer credit guidelines and the use of transfer tools, general admission criteria, scholarships, and financial aid resources. Evaluates completed applications for university and major/program-specific admission criteria as well as potential scholarship opportunities.Maintains proactive outreach and timely responses to applicants through the full enrollment lifecycle using all available communication tools.Performs other duties as assigned, requested, or delegated. The Office of Enrollment Management reserves the right to add, change, or reassign duties at any time.Other DutiesPerform other duties as requested, delegated, or assignedRequired QualificationsA minimum of 1 year of professional experience in higher education in the areas of student recruitment, student services, and/or marketing within a highly diverse population.Experience working with or advising students at the undergraduate or graduate level.Experience with Slate and Jenzabar ERP.Must have a driver’s license. Travel and access to a vehicle are required for supporting team recruitment efforts.Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesProven organizational skills and problem-solving abilities.Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate persuasively.Strong presentation skills and comfortable effectively communicating in front of both large and small groups.Creative, innovative, highly organized, and committed to college access and inclusion.Ability to demonstrate strong listening, speaking, and communication skills, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).High level of customer service skills.Ability and willingness to travel and work evenings and weekends.Preferred QualificationsProficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
