Job Description

Maintains Lake Miami Park, buildings, grounds, and related facilities according to desired standards regarding general appearance, cleanliness, and operational efficiency; operates and maintains equipment used in maintaining Lake Miami Park; supervises and performs semi-skilled trades work in such areas as plumbing, electrical repair, painting, carpentry, and equipment repair.Proficient computer operation & software knowledge as it is used in day-to-day operations.Collects fees from campers, shelter rent, and cabin rent.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.Regular, reliable, and prompt attendance required.Keeps premises of Lake Miami buildings in clean and orderly condition by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, vacuuming, and waxing floors, hallways, stairs, and office space, shampooing rugs and carpets, removing trash and related debris.Tends furnace and related equipment used to heat and cool the buildings; regulates flow of fuel and performs operating tests as recommended; follows a program of preventative maintenance.Maintains buildings, performing standard painting, plumbing, electrical wiring, and related maintenance activities using hand and power tools; replaces filters, light bulbs, ballasts, switches, toilet handles, valves, and gaskets, traps, pipes, etc.Notifies management concerning need for major repairs or additions; makes cost estimates of materials, equipment, and labor required to complete project.Repairs fences and other structures as needed to provide a safe and efficient recreational facility for outdoor activity.Mows Lake Miami Park, trims shrubbery using hand and power tools; removes snow from parking lots and related premises using machinery, hand, and power tools.Tends to elk and deer within the enclosed area at Lake Miami Park.Responds to inquiries or complaints from County Officials and the public relating to services provided; investigates actual or potentially dangerous conditions and takes action to correct those within his knowledge.Maintains building security for all buildings and residence, locking and unlocking doors.Mowing & other maintenance responsibilities required are on the Carmack recreational MCCB property, Monroe County Shooting Complex & joint partnership on the Pheasants Forever property west of Lovilia.Responsible for all aspects of the Monroe County Conservation Board’s goals and expectations.Ensuring functions are for maintaining, protecting, and developing Conservation and Natural Resources.Responsible for all aspects and working with affiliates, coaches & volunteers at the Monroe County Sports Complex.Support Policy and Procedures; working with the Conservation Board and Employees to ensure they are being carried out.Help identify and provide outreach and education for folks of all ages visiting Lake Miami Park and the Monroe County Sports Complex.Responsible for seeing that equipment and inventory is counted, documented, and maintained.Operate and supervise employees using equipment for maintaining Monroe County Conservation Board areas—assure knowledge of proper operation, maintenance, and safety.Utilize conservation development of Lake Miami Park and Monroe County.Make certain that income is counted according to established policy.Help identify and provide outreach for budget and expenses.Maintain Iowa Meeting Laws, record-keeping, and filing systems.Participates in in-service training and meetings required by the Board.Maintain a good working relationship with local elected officials.Minimum Training and Experience Required to Perform Essential Functions:Experience in custodial maintenance and grounds keeping beneficial.Proficient computer operation & software knowledge as it is used in day-to-day operations.ILEA (Iowa Law Enforcement Academy) certification is a plus.It is possible to attend ILEA for certification at a later date.Minimum Physical and Mental Abilities Required to Perform Essential Functions:Physical RequirementsWork involves frequent activity walking, standing, bending, stooping, kneeling, reaching (vertical and horizontal), lifting and moving heavy objects such as picnic tables, garbage cans, and containers weighing 75 lbs. or more, boxes, cleaning equipment, supplies, and materials using fingers, hands, feet, legs, and torso in providing various custodial and maintenance services.Able to operate motor vehicles, small engine equipment used in mowing grounds, removing snow, cutting branches, and trees.Skill in the operation of hand and power tools used in maintenance/repair including saws, drills, grinders, wrenches, chisels, squares, and related measuring devices.Cognitive Demands:Requires the capacity to set up, adjust, and operate machines and equipment to perform work functions; move, guide, or place objects (saws) or materials where precise standards are involved, starting, controlling, adjusting, and stopping machines or equipment; moving or carrying objects or materials with little need for judgment (mowing, mopping, sweeping, and dusting).Requires eye/hand/foot coordination, finger, and hand dexterity to respond to visual stimuli, follow oral, written, or diagrammatic instructions.Proficient trade areas of painting, carpentry, electrical repair, plumbing repair, knowledgeable of building trade codes and applicability to facilities and premises; knowledgeable of the general principles of housekeeping, environmental sanitation; knowledgeable of the location and condition of pipes, electrical wiring, and equipment used in building maintenance; able to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, and schematics.Language Ability & Interpersonal Communication:Capacity to understand the meanings of words in oral or written form such as work instructions, operating manual procedures;
