Job Description

Overview Physician (Gastroenterology) Section Chief at Veterans in Healthcare. This leadership role is within the Gastroenterology Section/Medical Service. Eligible to receive a University of Colorado Denver faculty appointment in the Department of Medicine. Responsibilities Continue and further the development of the endoscopy program and clinical needs of the service. Proficient in standard gastroenterologic procedures including upper GI endoscopy and colonoscopy. ERCP, endoscopic ultrasound, endoscopic therapy of Barrett's esophagus, endoscopic mucosal resection of the upper and lower GI tract, and placement of luminal stents for palliation depending on candidate training and experience. Engage in basic, clinical, and/or outcomes research and submit work for national meetings and publication in peer‑reviewed journals. Attend in the endoscopy lab, inpatient consult service, outpatient clinic, and other clinical services. Teach medical students, interns and residents in Internal Medicine and fellows in Gastroenterology. Participate in the educational activities of the Gastroenterology Division, UC Denver. Participate in Process Improvement/Quality Assurance projects and other administrative duties as assigned. Working hours Tour of duty: Monday through Friday, 8:00 to 4:30. Candidate must be willing to work weekends, irregular hours, and extended hours. May be placed or temporarily assigned to other related services and/or locations as necessary. Key Requirements Full unrestricted Licensure, Certification, or Registration required. Must pass pre-employment examination. Designated and/or Random Drug Testing required. Background and/or Security Investigation required. Must be proficient in written and spoken English. Board Certified/Eligible Gastroenterology.
