The Assurance Experienced Senior will be responsible for the day-to-day execution of several of our premium asset management clients, including private equity funds and venture capital funds. These duties will encompass the planning, fieldwork execution, and the "wrap-up" phases of the audit. This role reports directly to a Principal and will assist in coordinating with IT, valuation, and tax specialists or in other fields of financial assessment. The Experienced Senior takes the lead in designing and supervising the implementation of the audit approach and in drawing up reports and recommendations. This position advises clients on financial reporting and regulatory developments and keep up to date with regulatory changes by attending internal and external seminars. cycles to complete audit workDocumenting, validating, and assessing the design and operating effectiveness of the clients’ internal control systemIdentifying and communicating suggested improvements to client internal controls and accounting procedures in an effort to reduces risk within the client organizationSupervising and reviewing the work of audit staffGAAPApplies knowledge and understanding of governing principles, applying these principles to client transactions and documenting and communicating an understanding and application of these principles by:Communicating financial statement disclosure requirements to clientsDrafting complex sets of financial statements with disclosuresRecognizing and applying new pronouncements to client situationsIdentifying, analyzing, and discussing alternative generally accepted accounting principles with the Manager, Senior Manager, engagement partner, and the client, as neededIdentifying complex accounting issues and bringing them to the attention of superiors for resolutionCoaching less experienced team members in new areasSEC and PCAOBApplies knowledge and understanding of SEC regulations and PCAOB guidelines, and documents and communicates the application of these principles by:Reading and reviewing clients’ SEC filings, ensuring accuracy and completeness while also ensuring that all financial information is documented in the workpapers and through appropriate testingPreparing required communications to the Client and the Audit CommitteePlanning and executing Section 404 internal control audits including obtaining an understanding of the control environment, designing test plans, evaluating deficiencies, and assessing the overall financial reporting control environmentGAASApplies knowledge and understanding of professional standards, application of the principles contained in professional standards, and the ability to document and communicate an understanding and application of professional standards on an engagement by:Formulating and communicating the audit planApplying GAAS to a variety of complex issues and consults others as appropriateEmploying audit skepticism and determining when to reduce or expand testingUtilizing BDO audit manuals as appropriate for the situationDocumenting deviations from BDO policy, with approvalMethodologyApplies knowledge and application of BDO standards to guide effective and efficient delivery of quality services and products by:Coordinating the day-to-day conduct of the audit plan by ensuring the field work is executed and completed as planned, in accordance with timetable, with Firm’s policies and procedures, and within budgetApplying BDO audit approach and methodologies, including tools and technology, to execute the auditIdentifying and proposing outcomes to critical issuesResearchApplies methodology used to seek or maintain information from authoritative sources and to draw conclusions regarding a target issue based on the information by:Utilizing internal and external research tools and selecting methodology for routine research requestsResearching complex areas of accounting, forming an initial opinion on the correct treatment independently, and considering and documenting the impact on the client and audit engagementDocumenting and organizing complicated findings in a usable format, based on information obtained from Accounting Research Manager, BDO Assurance Manual, Yahoo Finance, etc.Assisting the engagement manager with gathering appropriate information about the business and information system, including the accounting system, to form an adequate basis for the preparation of the audit strategyCollaborating with the engagement manager to establish the responsibilities of individual audit staff for specific areas of audit workProject ManagementCoordinates timing of planning, fieldwork, and review with audit team and client, assists engagement executives in developing the audit engagement budget, and identifies appropriate resourcesDevelops the draft Audit Engagement Planning Memorandum, audit programs and budgetsEstablishes with the engagement manager the responsibilities of individual audit staff for specific areas of audit workMonitors and reports engagement budget to actual and advises engagement executives of possible overrunsOther duties as requiredSupervisory ResponsibilitiesSupervises a team of audit professionals ranging in size from one to fiveProvides verbal and written performance feedback to associatesTeaches/coaches associates to provide on the job learningEducationQualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, requiredMaster’s degree in Accountancy, preferredExperienceThree (3) or more years of experience in auditing asset managers/onshore/offshore fund vehicles and experience in industry relevant regulations, requiredPrior supervisory experience, preferredLicense/CertificationsActively pursuing completion of CPA licensing, requiredCPA, preferredSoftwareProficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, preferredPrior experience with various assurance applications and research tools, preferredLanguageN/AOther Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesSolid understanding of planning and coordinating the stages to perform an audit of a basic public and/or private companyKnowledge of internal accounting controls and professional standards and regulations (GAAP, GAAS, Sarbanes-Oxley, etc.)Strong verbal and written communication skills with the
