OverviewGeneral Superintendent role at JE Dunn Construction. The General Superintendent will develop and execute the project plan and oversee all aspects of assigned projects with significant complexity. This position is responsible for managing the team, planning construction sequencing, and meeting project goals in support of JE Dunn’s strategy, vision and values.ResponsibilitiesLeads all aspects of the company’s safety culture and creates awareness by demonstrating commitment to an injury-free environment; investigates safety incidents and retrains staff as needed.Manages subcontractors and organizes the overall job workflow.Oversees company staff, subcontractors, suppliers and programs such as Safety, Quality and EEO for a small project or a major portion of a larger project.Develops work plans for subcontractors and self-performed work.Coordinates and manages site care, custody and control.Leads meetings including daily standups and weekly trade meetings; attends progress and OAC meetings as appropriate.Creates, manages, updates and implements the project schedule in coordination with the Project Manager.Tracks project budget and costs using project management system reports and data from the Project Manager as municates key project information to owners, design team, authorities, subcontractors, suppliers and other departments.Maintains project filing and documentation, updates drawings, logs and inspection notebooks.Approves or records unit cost information for weekly reports and completes daily logs and tracking reports.Monitors progress of self-perform work and makes adjustments as needed.Manages material and equipment needs for the project.Supports procurement and approval processes and assists in selecting formwork, tools and equipment for self-perform operations.Manages timecard approval to ensure accurate hours and cost codes.Ensures quality compliance through specifications, QA/QC, and appropriate resources.Supports project closeouts by supervising pre-punch activities and coordinating with owner, architect and authorities.Gains understanding of the project pursuit process and method; partners with field leadership to staff projects and identify schedule and cost impacts of changes.Participates in project negotiations with owners and architects, project reviews, buy-out meetings and manages contract terms with owners and subcontractors.Identifies, recruits and promotes top talent; fosters a culture of diversity and inclusion per JE Dunn policy.Additional Core ResponsibilitiesManages the largest and most complex stand-alone or multiple complex projects from planning to completion.Provides management/oversight to multiple projects and teams; leads strategic initiatives and training content development.Delivers leadership messages effectively to internal and external audiences.Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesAccurate and timely work execution; strong communication (verbal and written).Effective presentation skills; proficiency in MS Office and project management software (various levels).Well-versed in construction management fundamentals, project processes, and self-perform operations.Able to build relationships within and outside project teams; strong budgeting, scheduling and Lean process knowledge.Knowledge of trades, labor productivity, crane/rigging, layout, and cost management; ability to understand document changes and schedule impacts.Ability to lead and collaborate across teams and with external partners.EducationBachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering or related field (Preferred). In lieu of above, equivalent relevant experience will be considered.Experience12+ years construction experience.10+ years field supervision experience.Experience leading Lean principles on projects (Preferred).Working EnvironmentValid and unrestricted driver’s license required.Benefits InformationThe benefits package aligned to this position is Professional Non-Union.
