OverviewSystems Administrator Expert - Backup and Configuration. Transform technology into opportunity with GDIT. This role supports the Department of Energy, National Nuclear Security Administration.This position requires a Systems Administrator Expert to evolve and maintain network infrastructure and ensure backup and configuration excellence.ResponsibilitiesAdminister, maintain, and support the organization’s IT systems and infrastructure including managing servers, ensuring system availability, and implementing solutions to improve performance and security, with expertise in backup configuration and monitoring.Design, implement, and manage enterprise backup and restore strategies across Windows, Linux, virtualized environments, and cloud.Monitor daily backup operations and perform regular restores to validate data integrity and recovery procedures.Manage backup tools and technologies such as Veeam, Commvault, Veritas NetBackup, Rubrik, or similar.Monitor system performance and troubleshoot highly complex issues to ensure high availability and reliability.Perform data restores for users and departments with adherence to service levels and compliance requirements.Troubleshoot, report, and resolve backup-related incidents and failures.Ensure backup systems align with data retention, compliance, and disaster recovery policies.Maintain backup documentation, logs, schedules, and audit trails.Participate in disaster recovery testing and planning activities.Optimize backup strategies to reduce storage costs and improve performance.Provide technical knowledge and analysis of backup applications and environments, contributing to high-level design, integration, documentation and implementation advice for complex problems.Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business needs and provide appropriate solutions.Perform maintenance such as patch management, updates, and backups.Plan and execute system upgrades and hardware/software installations.Ensure systems are updated with the latest security patches and software updates.Implement and maintain security measures to protect systems from unauthorized access and vulnerabilities.Develop, manage and test backup and recovery procedures to ensure data integrity and availability.What you’ll need to succeedRequired Education and ExperienceMaster’s Degree (substitutions will be based on additional years of experience)15+ years of related experienceExperience in System Administration, IT Systems and Infrastructure, IT Maintenance, Backup and Disaster Recovery, IT System Monitoring, Technical DocumentationPreferred experienceCommvault experienceSecurity ClearanceU.S. Citizenship RequiredPossess Q or TS level clearance (or their equivalency) with the ability to obtain a Q level clearanceMust be eligible to obtain and maintain such clearance as a condition of employmentSubject to random drug screeningRequired Skills and AbilitiesWritten and oral communication; organization, problem solving, teamworkLocationOn-site in Washington, DCAlternate site Germantown, MDGDIT is your place401K with company matchComprehensive health and wellness packagesInternal mobility team dedicated to helping you own your careerProfessional growth opportunities including paid education and certificationsCutting-edge technology you can learn fromRest and recharge with paid vacation and holidaysSalary and BenefitsThe likely salary range for this position is $127,500 - $172,500. This is not a guarantee of compensation. Salary will be set based on experience, location and contractual requirements and could fall outside this range.
