Job Description

OverviewWe have an opportunity for a Project Engineer in Long Beach, CA. This position supports marine construction projects with a focus on daily field coordination, production tracking, and ensuring that work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project specifications. The Project Engineer serves as a communication link between the field and office, supporting superintendents and foremen, maintaining accurate production records, and assisting with scheduling and material coordination. The role may also serve as the Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO) or Quality Control (QC) Manager on USACE projects in compliance with EM 385-1-1 requirements.Note: Projects may require extended out-of-town assignments with accommodations provided. Some weekend work may be required. ResponsibilitiesQuality & Safety Compliance: Enforce MSHA, OSHA, Corps of Engineers, and company safety policies. Lead or participate in safety meetings with field crews. Monitor field activities for compliance with safety and quality standards. Prepare and maintain documentation as required.Field Coordination: Assist superintendents and foremen with daily planning and execution of work. Coordinate labor, equipment, and material needs. Communicate with project managers and quarry operations for deliveries and material sourcing. Verify field conditions and adjust work plans for efficiency and safety.Production Tracking & Reporting: Maintain daily logs of activities, production, and equipment use. Track material quantities and document quantities for payment. Monitor progress against production goals and report variances.Surveying: Conduct progress surveys to verify installation of work. Assemble cross-sections and bathymetry maps for project documentation and client reporting.Scheduling & Planning: Assist in project schedule preparation. Identify potential delays and coordinate with the team to resolve them.Other Duties: Provide technical support for layout, surveying, and documentation. Assist with project documentation, including as-builts and progress photos. Minimum QualificationsBachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, Ocean Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.Minimum of 5 years of combined experience as a Field Engineer, Project Engineer, Project Superintendent, Construction Manager, or Project Manager in marine or heavy civil construction.Valid California Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record per company fleet policy.Ability to obtain or currently possess a TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential).Proficiency in Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, and Bluebeam.Experience in construction document control including correspondence, RFIs, submittals, change orders, contracts, and progress payments. Preferred QualificationsExperience working on USACE projects.Knowledge of EM 385-1-1 requirements for hazard identification, safety compliance, accident prevention, and activity hazard pleted EM 385-1-1 training appropriate for SSHO or QC Manager roles.Surveying experience (hydrographic and/or topographic).Experience with Hypack software.Experience estimating construction projects, including use of HeavyBid software. Physical RequirementsWalking, bending, squatting, sitting, lifting, pushing, pulling, and climbing to a significant degree.Ability to exert up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally, 50 lbs. frequently, and 20 lbs. constantly to move objects.Ability to communicate effectively.Climbing in and out of marine equipment is required.Additional information: Seniority level, employment type, job function, and industries are listed for reference on the posting. #J-18808-Ljbffr
