Position Title: Director V (Director, Public Affairs)Class/Group: 1624/B30Military Occupation Specialty Code: Navy 64L1XFair Labor Standards Act Status: ExemptNumber of Vacancies: 1Salary Range: $14,583.33 - $15,833.33 / monthlyDuration: RegularHours Worked Weekly: 40Travel: OccasionalWork Location: San Antonio, Texas – preferred work location, Austin, Texas - optionalJob SummaryThe Director of Public Affairs performs highly advanced (senior level) managerial and public affairs work providing direction, guidance, and supervision to the Office of Public Affairs.Establishes goals and objectives and develops, reviews, and implements department policies, procedures, and guidelines.Works closely with senior leaders across TXCC to drive strategic initiatives, goals, and objectives.Leads the vision and strategic direction of the Public Affairs Office.Oversees the building and maintaining of relationships with internal and external stakeholders.ResponsibilitiesOversees the Office of Public Affairs department and its municates pertinent information to the appropriate staff regarding legislative meetings and decisions.Develops, maintains, and reports on legislation, policies, programs, and initiatives that affect the agency at the state, federal, and local level.Formulates plans, develops schedules, and establishes clear direction aligned with agency objectives.Develops proper protocol and procedures for communicating with legislators and staff.Attends legislative hearings and meetings with legislators, legislative staff, and other legislative liaisons.Provides summaries of legislative hearings to agency management.Establishes collaborative and sustainable long-term relationships with legislators, regulators, external stakeholders, and other local government officials.Responds to requests from representatives of government bodies.Oversees media relations and the creation of informational materials and communications.Oversees the daily activities of the department.Performs other work-related duties as assigned.Education and ExperienceGraduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major course work in English, journalism, communications, business, public affairs, political science, or related field.Minimum of ten (10) years of legislative experience with the State of Texas.Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in preparing and delivering clear, effective executive level presentations.Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in a full-time consultative, supervisory, or managerial role.Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesWorking knowledge of state and federal guidelines and standards related to government administration.Knowledge of agency and program policies, procedures, and regulations.Demonstrated skill at building, leading and managing high-performance teams.Skilled at influencing others to perform their jobs in a timely, accurate, and effective manner.Demonstrated executive presence and judgment to effectively interact with employees of all levels.Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, to a variety of puter SkillsProficiency in the use of a computer and applicable software necessary to perform work assignments.Other RequirementsRegular and punctual attendance at the workplace.Criminal background check.Working ConditionsFrequent use of computers, copiers, printers, and telephones.Frequent standing, walking, sitting, listening, and talking.Frequent work under stress, as a team member, and in direct contact with others.Occasional bending, stooping, lifting, and climbing.Occasional overtime required.Occasional travel required.Texas Cyber Command does not exclude anyone from consideration for recruitment, selection, appointment, training, promotion, retention, or any other personnel action, or deny any benefits or participation in programs or activities, which it sponsors on the grounds of race, color, national origin, sex, religion, age, or disability. #J-18808-Ljbffr
