Director Fleet & Finance Counsel

Position SummaryThe Director Fleet & Finance Counsel is responsible for providing legal advice and guidance to a variety of JetBlue departments, and for supporting the strategy, preparation and negotiation of Fleet, Finance and Treasury transactions and agreements.Essential ResponsibilitiesManage and execute all fleet transactions, including Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) purchase agreements, aircraft leases, sale leaseback transactions, aircraft sales and lease returns, lease extensions and buyouts, aircraft loans, prepayments, payoffs and lien releases, and aircraft and engine sales and lease returnsManage and execute all debt and equity transactions, including secured financing and unsecured financings, and execution of all debt transactions and agreements (including short-term and long-term borrowings)Provide substantive support to the Treasury team on financings, revolving and term loan credit agreements, aircraft financings, convertible debt, and Enhanced Equipment Trust Certificates (EETCs)Provide substantive support to the Fleet team on aircraft and engine leases, buyouts, renovations, sale leasebacks, and restructuringsSupport large corporate transactions, as neededTake a significant role in the development of crewmembers to support their engagement, growth, and goal achievementOther duties as assignedMinimum Experience and Qualifications:Law degree and admission to the Bar of a state or jurisdiction of the United StatesSeven (7) years' experience with a major law firm and/or in-house legal positionAble to draft clear and concise legal and financial documentsExperience with managing a full project or initiativeExtensive experience in drafting and negotiating agreements and execution of large and small scale transactionsExcellent written, verbal and presentation skills, and organizational skillsProficient in all Microsoft Office applicationsAbility to work well under limited supervision in a fast-paced environmentStrong analytical skillsAvailable for moderate overnight travel (10%)Must pass a pre-employment drug testMust be legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is locatedAuthorization to work in the US is required, this position is not eligible for visa sponsorshipPreferred Experience and Qualifications:Admission to the New York BarKnowledge of commercial airline operations and other disciplines within the airport and their respective rolesProviding guidance on regulatory matters to senior leadersFamiliarity with developing environmental regulationsCrewmember Expectations:Regular attendance and punctualityPotential need to work flexible hours and be available to respond on short-noticeAble to maintain a professional appearanceWhen working or traveling on JetBlue flights, and if time permits, all capable crewmembers are asked to assist with light cleaning of the aircraftMust be an appropriate organizational fit for the JetBlue culture, that is, exhibit the JetBlue values of Safety, Caring, Integrity, Passion and FunMust fulfill safety accountabilities as prescribed by JetBlue's Safety Management SystemPromote JetBlue's #1 value of safety as a Safety Ambassador, supporting JetBlue's Safety Management System (SMS) components, Safety Policy, Security Policy, and behavioral standardsIdentify safety and/or security concerns, issues, incidents or hazards that should be reported and report them whenever possible and by any means necessary including JetBlue's confidential reporting systems (Aviation Safety Action Program (ASAP) or Safety Action Report (SAR))Responsible for adhering to all applicable laws, regulations (FAA, OSHA, DOT, etc.) and Company policies, procedures and risk controlsUphold JetBlue's safety performance metric goals and understand how they relate to their duties and responsibilitiesThe use of ChatGPT or any other automated tool during the interview process will disqualify a candidate from being considered for the position.Equipment:Computer and other office equipmentWork Environment:Traditional office environmentPhysical Effort:Generally not required, or up to 10 pounds occasionally, 0 pounds frequently. (Sedentary)Compensation:The base pay range for this position is between $160,000.00 and $205,000.00 per year.
