OverviewGeosyntec Consultants is seeking a Principal Environmental Remediation Engineer to join our growing Environmental Practice in the Seattle, Bellingham, Wenatchee, Yakima, or Bainbridge Island, WA office. The Environmental Practice tackles challenges on a variety of complex environmental projects throughout the Pacific Northwest, including environmental site assessments, remedial investigations/feasibility studies, property cleanup and urban redevelopments, remedial design engineering, cost recovery/allocation/mediation support, and landfill system monitoring and this role, you will have the opportunity to lead in the delivery of technical project work, participate in leadership and mentorship initiatives, and contribute to key sales and business development efforts. Your technical project work will primarily focus on environmental investigation and remediation projects where you will lead the development and implementation of environmental due diligence, remedial investigations, and cleanup actions on known or suspected contaminated sites. You will work collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary team to grow client relationships through technical execution, sales, and business development. You will actively develop your own practice through effective project delivery and client development, while contributing to Geosyntec’s success.Essential Duties And ResponsibilitiesCollaborate with and mentor staff as part of Geosyntec’s Sell, Manage, Do culture. Lead challenging technical projects while expanding practices and capabilities through business development and client management.Possibly take on project management, staff management, development, and mentoring responsibilities.Manage and direct technical projects through task and project management, including planning and implementing investigations and remediation, budgeting, scheduling, quality, client satisfaction, and profitability.Evaluate contaminated sites and develop remediation approaches, including feasibility studies, cleanup action plans, engineering design reports, and remediation design plans.Lead the development of work plans, data evaluation, and cost-benefit analyses.Oversee remedial pilot tests and systems, including vendor selection, logistics, permitting, and supervision of field teams.Mentor and motivate early career staff on project performance, cost, schedule management, client expectations, and career development.Work with and lead multidisciplinary teams, including data scientists, geologists, risk assessors, CAD designers, and modelers.Prepare and review technical reports, letters, memoranda, plans, specifications, and proposals.May include fieldwork such as site visits, environmental sampling and characterization, drilling oversight, contractor oversight, and remediation system operations, maintenance, and construction.Build a portfolio of clients by obtaining repeat business and winning new clients; foster trust-based relationships with clients, regulatory personnel, and other stakeholders.Possess a willingness to travel as needed for client or project sites.Education and LicensureBachelor’s degree in environmental engineering or related engineering discipline (required).Master’s degree in environmental engineering or related discipline (preferred).Professional Engineer (PE) licensure (required).Skills, Experience And QualificationsAt least 10 years of related experience (15+ preferred) or an equivalent combination of education and experience (required).Relevant coursework or experience in contaminant fate and transport.Knowledge of state and federal cleanup laws, regulations, and guidance for cleanup of contaminated sites (required).Strong quantitative and analytical skills (required).Clear and professional writing and verbal communication skills (required).Excellent client management skills and ability to work with teams, clients, attorneys, and regulators to execute projects (required).Valid U.S. driver’s license and satisfactory driving record for business travel (required).Salary and BenefitsCompensation varies by location. Typical base salary ranges are provided for Washington locations: Wenatchee/Yakima: 127,450–225,880; Bellingham: 133,820–237,175; Bainbridge Island/Seattle: 140,195–248,470. This is just one component of Geosyntec’s total compensation package. Actual compensation will depend on education, experience, skill set, and location.
