2 days ago Be among the first 25 applicants Overview The Manager, Electrical Engineering Technicians is a senior-level position that leads a team of technicians who provide front-line support for the design, development, implementation, and sustaining of electronic products and systems. The role supports various projects, cross-functional teams, and departments across the organization. It serves as the subject matter expert on electronic testing, troubleshooting, rework, test equipment, infrastructure, and technician resources in the QSC electrical engineering laboratories. This role requires strong analytical, decision-making, communication, and follow-up skills, the ability to respond quickly to a continual flow of requests, delegate as needed, adapt to changing priorities, and maintain stakeholder visibility across the organization. Lab management expertise and strong leadership for mentoring direct reports across multiple USA sites are essential. Key Tasks & Responsibilities (Essential Functions) Manage up to 10 direct-report electrical engineering technicians across three locations in the USA, including recruiting, hiring, onboarding, training, mentoring, goals setting, and performance reviews. Supervise activities at four electrical engineering labs across three locations, including lab safety and ESD precautions. Define and communicate performance expectations, track progress, and provide regular feedback on performance. Coach and motivate the technician team to grow through training opportunities, regular feedback, and recognition of contributions. Manage laboratory infrastructure, test equipment, and electronic component stock, including planning, budgeting, purchasing, inventory, calibration, and maintenance. Daily hands-on work in a QSC electrical engineering laboratory, including SMD rework down to 0402, BGA replacement by hand, PCBA bring-up, system- and circuit-level troubleshooting, and use of oscilloscopes and test equipment with documentation of results. Travel to other QSC electrical engineering laboratory locations as needed for training, infrastructure updates, and project support. Drive technician tasking, priorities, and schedules; participate in electrical qualification testing for new product development and sustaining engineering. Review and summarize data from electrical qualification testing; document results, provide feedback on test methods, and report results to project technical management. Own documents related to laboratory usage and safety; co-own documents related to electrical qualification testing, including yearly updates and revisions. Education Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical Engineering Skills And Minimum Experience Required B.S. in Electrical Engineering or related field with equivalent experience. 5+ years of hands-on technical and team leadership experience in an electronic laboratory developing, testing, and qualifying electronic circuits and products. Proven leadership ability with positive feedback and motivation of teams. Experience in electronic laboratory management, test equipment calibration and maintenance, and safety requirements. Ability to coordinate multiple priorities, projects, and strategic initiatives simultaneously. Strong problem-solving, analysis, and communication skills with stakeholders. Experience locating critical information in Agile PLM or similar PLM tools. Experience with Altium Designer or other PCB viewer software. Familiarity with IPC, ESD, SPI, I2C, eMMC, SMD, BGA, FPGA, POE, and A2B; familiarity with PCBA manufacturing techniques and component packages. Experience collaborating with electrical engineers, product architects, and project managers. Experience using Atlassian Confluence and Jira, or similar tools; experience with Microsoft Office 365. Strong responsiveness and follow-up skills; excellent English communication (verbal, written, presentation). Ability to communicate with teams across the USA using MS Teams and MS Outlook; identify opportunities for process improvement and present recommendations to leadership. Physical Requirements Light work Travel Requirements 1-20% Compensation and Benefits The range for this position is $91,000 to $164,000. Placement within this range may vary depending on experience and location. Acuity offers benefits including health care, dental, vision, 401K, and incentive compensation depending on role.
