Overview Packaging Engineer position at Gaumard Scientific. The Packaging Engineer will design and develop custom packaging and contribute towards establishing in-house packaging manufacturing, including packaging, process, mold, and equipment design and implementation. The role involves developing cost-effective packaging concepts that protect goods and support the company/'s green initiatives, and creating strategies for product protection, testing, and implementation. Supervision The Packaging Engineer will work collaboratively with personnel from all departments, including Manufacturing Engineering, Engineering, Purchasing, and Production. Duties and Responsibilities Analyze existing products and develop proposals for new packaging design and implementation Collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, and Production to develop packaging Create innovative packaging designs, cartons and thermoformed packaging; standardize packaging, assembly, and documentation processes Prepare documents necessary to comply with regulations Provide technical support to manufacturing teams Research, procure, and implement capital equipment as necessary (approval by executive management) Develop, test, and implement manufacturing processes Provide support and problem resolution to manufacturing lines as needed Other duties as assigned Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field 7+ years of relevant experience Must be bilingual Drafting and engineering experience required Strong knowledge of SolidWorks and AutoCAD or similar, with 3+ years of experience Practical, hands-on approach to problem-solving Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail and accuracy Ability to take initiative and self-manage on high-impact projects Excellent project coordination and prioritization skills Goal-oriented with the ability to complete tasks in a timely manner Knowledge of vacuum-forming and injection-molding techniques Knowledge of packaging performance test methods Knowledge of general design engineering and DFMA principles, component manufacturing processes, tooling methodologies, material properties Experience with custom packaging design and implementation Ability to adapt to shifting priorities and work in a fast-paced environment Excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong decision-making and problem-solving skills, and outstanding interpersonal skills Team player and independent contributor Experience with process implementation from the ground up is a plus Physical/Mental Requirements Ability to communicate effectively in a business environment (reading and writing) Ability to follow procedures and instructions Ability to sit at a desk for long periods to assemble documentation and record data Ability to walk the facilities to collect necessary data Ability to lift, pull, push, and carry objects up to 20 lbs Regularly sit and use fingers; talk and/or hear Vision requirements: close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, focus adjustment Ability to exercise independent judgment in conducting tasks What You’ll Get When You Join Gaumard Scientific Competitive pay PTO 11 paid holidays Retirement plan with 100% employer match up to 5% of employee contributions Opportunity to contribute to a long-standing company Hours: Monday to Friday 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM; must be willing and able to work some Saturdays or stay beyond scheduled shift if needed to meet business demands.
