Find your future with us.Boeing’s Global Real Estate and Facilities (GREF) organization is seeking a Facilities Crane Mechanical Engineer, at Experienced or Senior Level, who will be specializing in cranes to join our Facilities Engineering team. This role supports the design, development, procurement, and modification of overhead crane systems at our Renton, WA dividuals with a passion for safe and reliable facilities systems and equipment will excel in this role. You will collaborate with other skilled engineering, maintenance, and operations teams to maintain & improve our crane systems and develop long range plans to ensure system sustainability.Position Responsibilities:Provide mechanical engineering guidance in the design, development, procurement, modification, and maintenance of overhead crane and hoisting systemsPartner and collaborate closely with other engineering, maintenance, operations, and project management teamsDevelop conceptual designs, rough cost estimates, and preliminary project schedules to meet the needs of customers, engineering partners, facility standards, outside consultants, and regulatory/government agenciesReview, approve, and verify crane mechanical system designs & installs to ensure compliance with requirements and regulationsSupport accuracy of system documentation and drawing libraries through internal and external projectsCreate CAD drawings and documentation aligned to facility standards; review contractor control drawing redline submittals after construction is complete; verify redlines are incorporated into as-built drawingsProvide input to strategic, short term, and long term infrastructure planning, continuously recommending improvementsWork with both internal & external partners to identify and assess alternatives and impacts; use proactive, forward-thinking approaches to daily workDetermine causes of asset failures or reduction of capability using reliability tools & methods (e.g., lifecycle analysis, condition-based maintenance, mean time between failures, fault tree analysis, etc.)Demonstrate daily commitment to safety and operational excellenceUp to 15% travel required to Boeing sites in Puget Sound area as neededBasic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):Bachelor’s degree or higher in mechanical engineering or related engineering field5+ years of experience in an engineering role3+ years of experience maintaining mechanical cranes and hoisting systems including cables, chain sheaves and hooksExperience reading & understanding engineering drawings, schematics, and specificationsAbility to perform work at heights up to 50 feet above ground level with appropriate safety gearPreferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):5+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experienceExperience in safety processes related to crane systemsExperience applying Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA), or similar problem/analysis/resolution processes to engineering development & manufacturing/production effortsExperience working with industrial automation systems for cranes (i.e., reading standard PLC programming languages such as ladder logic, function block diagrams & statement lists)Experience using Autodesk AutoCAD or RevitDrug Free Workplace: Boeing is a Drug Free Workplace where post offer applicants and employees are subject to testing for marijuana, cocaine, opioids, amphetamines, PCP, and alcohol when criteria is met as outlined in our policiesUnion: This is a union-represented position.Pay & Benefits: At Boeing, we strive to deliver a Total Rewards package that will attract, engage and retain the top talent.
