OverviewCobble Hill Health Center is a not-for-profit long- and short-term care facility providing services to the disabled and elderly for over 40 years. The Food Service Manager plays an integral role in helping us to achieve our vision: to consistently exceed expectations and set the standard for excellence in residential and community care.PositionFood Service Manager — Part TimeShift: Part Time (2-3 days weekly). Hours: 4am-12pm with rotating weekends.Location: Brooklyn, NYWhat We OfferAn opportunity to express your talents and lead a high-performing teamFree hot meal for each shift workedPaid holidays plus sick and vacation daysResponsibilities Include But Are Not Limited ToSupervises kitchen operations and meal preps in accordance with the planned menu and standardized recipes.Delegates responsibilities to the cook/Cook's helper regarding meal preparation.Consults with Chef, Director, and others on the team to ensure proper tasks are being completed for food preparation, resident requests, accuracy of tray items, compliance with medical diagnoses, menu changes, etc.Tests prepared food for temperature, appearance and palatability.Attends and participates in managers' meetings.Facilitates in-service trainings.Collects and records all relevant data, such as temperatures, special devices, etc.Ensures that the team follows safety regulations as well as maintaining clean storage areas and that proper food handling equipment techniques are used.Performs other duties as assigned by Chef or Food Service Director to ensure proper care of residents and efficient operation of the department.Assumes responsibility and accountability in the absence of the Chef and Sous Chef.What You OfferMust have worked with a Chef as a cook for at least one year in an accredited institution.Food Handlers certification required.
