Job Description

Loso House, San Francisco, is a transitional residential program established in 2007. It is designed primarily for clients returning from long stays locked in institutions or other long-term care settings. The program offers comprehensive in-house day treatment programs for residents, with a maximum length of stay of one year.Primary Responsibilities: Under the supervision of the Program Director or Assistant Director, Counselors provide support and assistance to clients. They advocate for and respond to clients' treatment and rehabilitation needs. Specific functions include promoting the philosophy of social rehabilitation, performing intake interviews, group, individual, and family counseling, treatment plan development and implementation, coordination of activities, discharge planning, and developing and maintaining contact with clients' therapists and related treatment programs.Promote the philosophy of social rehabilitation as it applies to residential treatmentPerformance of intake interviewsGroup, individual, and family counselingTreatment plan development and implementationCoordination of activitiesDischarge planningDeveloping and maintaining contact with clients' therapists and related treatment programsMinimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree preferred, or experience may be substituted depending on nature and length. Specific experience in residential treatment and/or knowledge of social rehabilitation is preferred. At least one year's experience in a community mental health program is preferred. Must be able to communicate effectively, have basic word processing skills, demonstrate maturity, good judgment, and emotional stability, and be able to negotiate several flights of stairs and lift and carry 20lb packages.Progress Foundation is an equal opportunity employer committed to a diverse workforce.
