The funeralservice experience includes but is not limited to funeral directing, funeralarrangements, counseling, visitations, management of funeral service forms andagreements, embalming activities and crematory operations.*Key* *Components**Outstanding Customer Relationships Skills:*The Funeral Director - Embalmer is responsible for creating a positive firstimpression whether it is over the phone, responding to a death call, at themain office and/or at a service. When working events, he/she is responsible foropening doors, greeting and handing out memorial folders to guests as theyenter the funeral home, event center, cemetery or other facility, usheringguests to their seats as necessary and delegating tasks to service assistantsand/or assisting directors. He/she will be responsible for overseeingvisitations and evening services, conducting and working services, workingon-call rotation and should always be looking for ways to exceed the expectations of the family being served.*Event Planning:*This position will guide the family throughout the entire funeral serviceexperience. He/she will present all funeral home, event center and cemeteryoptions to all families. The Funeral Director - Embalmer will coordinate, planand schedule visitations, services, receptions, open houses etc... with andbetween the funeral home, event center, cemetery and other facilities. He/shewill schedule all service arrangements and details such as clergy, honorariums,military organizations and any other persons involved in conducting the event.He/she will order all necessary merchandise for the event such as casket, urn,flowers etc... He/she will be responsible for using the MS 365 applications andCRM systems to track all appointments and/or events and coordinating shipmentof remains to and from other cities and locations. He/she must communicatedetails of each event with other team members at the funeral home, event centerand cemetery offices on a consistent basis.*Administrative Support:*The Funeral Director/Embalmer will obtain all necessary information needed tocomplete required documents such as the death certificate and burial transitpermit; insurance policies, VA burial benefits, obituaries and death notices.He/she will work with office staff to ensure all paperwork and legal documentsare filed with appropriate agencies and will proofread all print materials andobituaries before print and/or submission. He/she is responsible for ensuringall paperwork behind the scenes is completed accurately, timely and in accordance with relevant laws and regulations.*Maintenance/Clean-up:*The Funeral Director/Embalmer will be responsible for keeping work environmentsclean. Cleaning will include vacuuming, dusting, cleaning dishes and takingtrash out. The arrangement rooms should be cleaned after every arrangement. Thesnacks should be straightened up, dishes moved to kitchen and washed andstraighten chairs up for the next meeting. The bathrooms should be cleanedregularly. This includes cleaning toilets, stocking toilet paper, paper towelsand sweeping and mopping floor. Cleaning of the chapel will include stockingKleenex for families, straightening chairs in rows and vacuuming. You will berequired to clean downstairs bathrooms, prep rooms and crematory. This cleaningwill involve stocking shelves, deep clean with bleach the prep room, sweep andmop the entire downstairs. Maintenance and cleaning involve the vehicles aswell. This requires cleaning trash out of vehicles, items from service beingput up where they belong, washing exterior of vehicles, vacuuming inside ofvehicles and fueling all vehicles. Any items that we run low on should be reported to the proper people so it can be reordered and restocked.*Prep Work and Crematory Operations:*He/she will be responsible for mortician duties such as embalming andpreparing the deceased (dressing, cosmetology, casketing andhair) for funeral services as well as burials or cremations, transportation orother disposition in conformity with legal requirements, best practices andmust treat the deceased with the utmost respect and dignity. He/she will safelyutilize embalming instruments and machinery in accordance with companyguidelines. He/she will be responsible for crematory operations including butnot limited to preforming cremations, light maintenance of the crematory,processing and filling urns and keepsakes. He/she will be required to usepersonal protective equipment and adhere to relevant operational and safety proceduresas they relate to the prep room and crematory operations.*Evaluation/Accountability:*The Funeral Director/Embalmer will report directly to the Funeral Home LocationManager who is responsible for ensuring that the Funeral Director/Embalmer isworking in alignment with his/her job duties and responsibilities and themission, vision and values of Einan's at Sunset. The Funeral Director/Embalmerwill be evaluated after 90 days and then every work anniversary date to makesure he/she meeting the company's expectations. Measurable goals based on keycomponents within this job description will be established and evaluatedannually.*Qualifications: *To ensure that the Funeral Director/Embalmer is in alignment with the mission, vision and values of Einan's at Sunset, he/she must BELIEVE in exceptionalcustomer service, understand the value in celebrating life, exemplify strongverbal and written communication skills, be detail oriented, be able to work ina fast paced environment but able to keep busy when business is slow and beopen to change. He/she must be sensitive to the feelings of others and be ableto feel empathy for the grief and stress others are experiencing. In additionto these qualities, embalmers must have a strong stomach when it comes tosights and smells and be able be able to use a delicate touch. Must have avalid driver's license with insurance, have a clean driving record and able towork nights, weekends and holidays. He/she must be able to obtain AlcoholServer Permit, Food handlers' card and be able to physically lift up to 200pounds. Must have valid Funeral Director/Embalmer License and/or the ability toobtain license in Washington State and be proficient with computers andtechnology.
