Position Type: Transportation/MechanicDate Posted: 9/26/2025Location: Transportation DeptTITLE: Bus Maintenance (Transportation)/LicensedQUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or equivalent. Have the ability to assist in making the necessary repairs to the school bus fleet, maintenance vehicles, and other gas or diesel equipment. CDL or ability to obtain CDL within four months of employment. Hold appropriate license Additional criteria as the Board may establish. REPORTS TO: Transportation Foreman and Transportation Supervisor SUPERVISES: NONE JOB GOAL: To work under the direction of the Bus Mechanic to make necessary repairs to all board owned vehicles. PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: Assist in the repair and preventive maintenance to buses, vehicles and all fuel powered equipment. Assist in conducting inspection of the buses. Work with the Mechanic on repair or recovery of buses before and after normal working hours. Report any work you have completed to the Bus Mechanic so records can be maintained. Complete a daily time and dispatch log. Requisition supplies, parts and equipment as needed under the direction of the Bus Mechanic. Responds to emergency situations whenever they occur and assists other maintenance personnel in resolving the problem. Wash and clean buses. Clean work area at the end of day. Reports job-related injuries within 48 hours of work accident to the immediate supervisor. "Job-related injuries" include, but are not limited to, any accident or illness which involves loss of consciousness, restriction of work or motion, or medical treatment. Performs other tasks and assumes other responsibilities as the Director of Operations may assign. Exhibits positive personal behavior and avoids improprieties or the appearance of improprieties. Maintains confidentiality of all matters related to student and employee matters.
