Transportation Mechanic JobID: 3000 Position Type: Transportation/Mechanic Date Posted: 9/26/2025 Location: Transportation Dept Additional Information: Show/Hide TITLE: Bus Maintenance (Transportation)/Licensed QUALIFICATIONS: * High school diploma or equivalent. * Have the ability to assist in making the necessary repairs to the school bus fleet, maintenance vehicles, and other gas or diesel equipment. * CDL or ability to obtain CDL within four months of employment. * Hold appropriate license * Additional criteria as the Board may establish. REPORTS TO: Transportation Foreman and Transportation Supervisor SUPERVISES: NONE JOB GOAL: To work under the direction of the Bus Mechanic to make necessary repairs to all board owned vehicles. PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: * Assist in the repair and preventive maintenance to buses, vehicles and all fuel powered equipment. * Assist in conducting inspection of the buses. * Work with the Mechanic on repair or recovery of buses before and after normal working hours. * Report any work you have completed to the Bus Mechanic so records can be maintained. * Complete a daily time and dispatch log. * Requisition supplies, parts and equipment as needed under the direction of the Bus Mechanic. * Responds to emergency situations whenever they occur and assists other maintenance personnel in resolving the problem. * Wash and clean buses. * Clean work area at the end of day. * Reports job-related injuries within 48 hours of work accident to the immediate supervisor. "Job-related injuries" include, but are not limited to, any accident or illness which involves loss of consciousness, restriction of work or motion, or medical treatment. * Performs other tasks and assumes other responsibilities as the Director of Operations may assign. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Twelve Months EVALUATION: Performance in this position will be evaluated at least once annually in accordance with Board Policy. FSLA: Nonexempt
