At the Ideal Tridon Group, connections aren't just what we make-they're the heart of everything we do. We are seeking a Shipping Clerk - Operator for our Auburn Hills, MI Plant. Work Schedule: Monday - Friday from 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM Position Summary: * Responsible for providing service to the manufacturing operation regarding receiving and stocking for parts and raw materials by performing various task associated with, evaluating receiving needs, obtaining, organizing and generating the proper documentation for items to be received, coordinating physical movement of parts and materials, stocking these in the right locations, updating receiving related systems, monitoring the material handling activities to ensure quality of service, and internal customer delivery expectations consistent with company policy and performance standards * Coordinates the tasks of team members to execute the material handling functions for receiving and warehouse by performing a combination of duties associated with, manually preparing, handling, organizing, loading, unloading of skids or packaged orders to be received and stocked. Verifies receiving data and paperwork including quantities, dimensions, weights. Secures loads, distributes and assure that material handling is being done accordingly to the necessary documentation or instruction including but not limited to work order, shop prints, verbal instructions or other form of instruction. * Observing all safety and operational procedures, including maintaining all required paperwork, safety logs, preventive maintenance logs and checklist to meet quality, and delivery expectations * Must be decisive and possess the ability to choose an alternative course of action when necessary. Always maintaining communication with Supply Manager for further approval * A sense of urgency toward efficiency and delivery challenges, safety compliance and quality are paramount and should make recommendations to Supply Chain Management for changes to working conditions and methods to improve efficiency while ensuring employee safety; must maintain a positive team environment within the work group. * This position requires strong interpersonal skills, professional communication both internally and externally working in a team environment with a diverse group of associates, customers, and suppliers. * Must require help from coworkers when handling heavier items since Load pallets and skids may be up to 35 feet long and weight up to 2000 lb. * Job may require overtime and a flexible schedule, reporting early and working late including weekends from time to time. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: * Coordinates and receives shipments including making sure the accuracy of the shipment, checks for quality issues and that all documentation including packing slip; signing the delivery receipt and stamping the receiving date on packing slips. * Works with material handlers on the movement and handling activities from receiving area to the warehouse area in order to stock materials in the correct location, following a priority program * Assures the accuracy of the receiving by reviewing data included in packing slip against physical shipment, identifies the additional parts or products that the shipping orders contains, obtain the weight, dimensions and description information * Implements and leads cycle counts, works with different departments, investigates root cause of issues * Inspects the work, and paperwork makes sure that all items are integrated and signed off. Updates Macola system and production. * Generates the required labels for each received parts or materials, making sure to include all the required information such as, sales order number, supplier, customer name, date packed and total of individual skids or boxes. * Works with the supervisor and team members in determining the space required to stock product, parts and materials, consolidates for stacking opportunities. * Reviews the receiving paperwork to check the accuracy of the shipment coordinates the staging and loading of the materials, take pictures. * Works with other departments when detecting quality issues on shipments and coordinates the actions accordingly and as per procedure, completes proper documentation. * Updates Macola and production charts with receiving detail information, scan packing slip, coordinate the transport and deliver of the product to the appropriate areas. * Maintains a physical file at the work area for a minimum of 30-day period in case of a discrepancy * May operate a variety of machines and equipment including but not limited to forklift, cart, hand trucks to cover positions when needed, * Performs activities for training new employees, corrective action procedures with department employees * Coordinates and oversees activities to comply with 5' S, safety, and other related company policies * Reports and documents injury or other safety related incidence according to company policy. * Keeps communication lines open between Management and workers Required Education and Experience: * High School Diploma or GED * Minimum of 1 year of related work experience * Shipping & receiving: 1 year (Preferred) * Self-motivated. * Knowledge of inventory systems * Capable of utilizing basic math skills * Capable of using scan guns and ERP software * Detail-oriented * Hi-Lo certified or able to become certified in operating lift equipment. Required Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Know how to sort and classify things, ability to read and write, interpret manufacturing paperwork diagrams, shop documents and record information on forms provided, comprehend for purpose of communicating safety, understand instructions and work directions. Perform simple math calculations, including performing measurements, be aware of and observe quality requirements. Be able to safely perform work of a manual nature including operate manual and powered hand tools including but not limited to steel cutters, etc. Training Requirements: General Safety, HAZCOM, Lockout - Tag-out, Forklift, Macola, Department SOP Physical Demands: Frequently walking, using hands and fingers to handle or feel, operate, activate, inspect, place, detect, position, grasping or squeezing, stoop, kneel, crunch or crow, climb, talk/hear to communicate, detect, converse with discern, convey, exchange information; see to detect, distinguish, identify, inspect, estimate. Perform frequent repetitive movement, lifting, pushing and pulling; up to 70 pounds. Inventory Control Specialist must require help from coworkers when handling heavier items since Load pallets and skids may be up to 35 feet long and weight up to 200 lb. Work Environment: Be able to work in a loud, noisy and congested environment.
