Duties Help This position is located under the Office of Intelligence Operations, Investigations Coordination Branch National Firearms Trafficking Center located in Washington, District of Columbia. * Manages a branch responsible for criminal investigations, law enforcement programs, functions, or operations encompassing the overall law enforcement mission of the organization. * Plans, directs, coordinates, and oversees studies and surveys to evaluate branch programs and ensure efficiency and economy of operations. * Coordinates projects/programs with management officials in branches and divisions within a directorate at ATF Headquarters and officials from the DOJ or other Federal, State, local law enforcement agencies. * Advises the deputy division chief and/or division chief on significant issues and matters pertaining to branch programs and projects, e.g., the impact of new technology, new initiatives, etc. Requirements Help Conditions of employment The time-in-grade requirement must be met by the closing date of this announcement. MOBILITY PLAN: New employees hired pursuant to this vacancy announcement must sign a mobility agreement. Key Requirements: * Pass drug screening and subject to random drug test. * Requires proficiency with a firearm per ATF's Standard. * May be required to serve a 1-year probationary period. The 1811 position requires law enforcement experience and is covered by special retirement provisions, including maximum entry age requirements. The successful applicant must be able to display and maintain the required proficiency with firearms per ATF's firearms proficiency standards. Complete or have previously completed the basic criminal investigative courses (Criminal Investigator Training Program, Special Agent Basic Training) at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC). Complete a medical examination (including vision, hearing, cardiovascular and mobility of extremities) by an authorized government physician and be determined physically fit to perform strenuous physically demanding duties. You will be required to undergo regular physical examinations and to maintain a level of physical fitness in accordance with ATF's standards and policies. Qualifications To qualify for GS-14 candidates must also have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level GS-13. This is a non-bargaining unit position. Specialized experience is demonstrated experience, which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform successfully the duties of this position. Experience must be in the normal line of progression or must be related to the work of the position advertised and must be reflected in resume. Specialized experience includes: * Providing leadership and supervision to a team; AND * Evaluating programs or projects to analyze, evaluate and improve the effectiveness and efficiency of operations; AND * Communicating with all levels of management to include senior officials of any Federal, State, Local, and Private law enforcement agencies. Substitution of education in lieu of specialized experience may not be used for this grade level.
