Duties Help Prepares food and beverage items such as wraps, sandwiches, salads, soups, breakfast items, smoothies, espresso drinks, and gourmet coffees at Rickenbacker's using measured and standard recipes. Observes portion control procedures when preparing menu items. Serves food in a snack bar style. Sets up and operates smoothie machine. Cleans machines used in the preparation of food and beverage items on a daily basis and performs simple maintenance as needed. Sells posted menu items, daily specials, and a limited variety of prepared food items, such as bagels, croissants, cookies, snacks, and drinks. Operates cash register, rings up sale, receives payment (cash, credit card) and tenders change. At the end of each shift cleared the cash register and turns over the receipts and supporting documents to the supervisor. May prepare cashier's report and make deposits. Maintains facility in a clean and orderly manner. Cleans interior and exterior of facility daily. Spot cleans area and equipment as needed during operating hours. At the end of day, cleans area. and breaks down equipment. Removes all pans at closing, washed, rinses and sanitizes. Cleans tabletops, chairs and counters as needed through the shift. Collects and transfers trash from work area to disposal area. Performs daily, weekly, and monthly cleansing as scheduled. Receives and inspects orders, brings discrepancies to supervisor's attention. Stores food IAW standard procedures. May perform or assist with inventories and ordering. Restocks racks and coolers with food and beverage items. Qualifying Experience: Be able to follow simple oral instructions, be able to use hand tools for cleaning, and operate simple machines. Be skilled in doing tasks with several steps and must use judgement in sequencing tasks. Have knowledge of sanitation standards in handling and serving food, and for cleaning equipment and work area. Experience in the operation of a cash register, direct handling of cash items, and cash accountability is desirable. Have the ability to communicate both orally and in writing. Possess skill in dealing with the public. Be physically able to frequently lift or move objects weighing up to 40 pounds. Be able to continuously stand and walk, and frequently stoop, reach, push., pull and bend for long periods of time. Be able to obtain a Food Handler's Certificate and/ or complete food handlers training. Successfully complete a pre-employment physical. Successfully complete a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Education Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution. FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program.
