Because Odyssey is where recovery gets real.Major FunctionsThe Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner performs psychiatric assessment, evaluation, psychiatric medication therapy,continuing evaluation, monitoring and symptom management for consumers according to medical necessity.Specific Duties & Responsibilities Conduct initial psychiatric assessment, evaluation and regular continuing care. Order medication for management of diagnosed psychiatric disorders. Provide medication evaluation and medication monitoring of consumers. Provide emergency psychiatric care when on-site as needed. Follow generally accepted standards of professional practice and medical ethics at all times. Ensure maintenance of accurate, legible and timely documentation in electronic health record; documents care as it is provided. Orders labs for blood level monitoring of psychiatric medications as needed. Communicate regularly with psychosocial and primary healthcare staff regarding special needs for individual residents. Attend regularly scheduled staff meetings and case conferences. Attend all required in-service training seminars. Participate in quality improvement activities. Other relevant duties as required.REQUIREMENTS: EDUCATION/TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES Knowledge of Federal and State regulations regarding health care in an ambulatory setting. Familiar with etiology of substance abuse and treatment of co-occurring disorders. In good standing with New York State Department of Education Professional Licensing Boards and without any outstanding malpractice judgments. Skilled in the medical management of mental illness. Advanced Practice Nursing Degree from an accredited College or University. Current license as a Nurse Practitioner in the State of New York. Board certified preferred. Able to use electronic health record to document services provided.
