Job Description and Duties MAINTENANCE MECHANIC - INLAND EMPIRE DISTRICT / SILVERWOOD SECTOR / PROVIDENCE MOUNTAINS STATE RECREATION AREA in ESSEX, CA Post & Bid: This classification is subject to the Post and Bid process. Applications from a certification list, transfer change in class, reinstatement, re-employment, and training and development assignment candidates will be accepted for this position but consistent with the MOU/Bargaining Agreement BU12/13 contract cannot be acted upon unless the Post & Bid process does not result in a hire. The reporting location for this position is Providence Mountains State Recreation Area, 38200 Essex Road, Essex, CA 92332. May travel throughout the district to provide support to other park units as needed. This position will work under the general direction of Park Maintenance Chief I. The incumbent's work schedule will be Monday to Friday from 07:00 AM to 03:30 PM We are looking for a highly motivated individual to fill the Maintenance Mechanic position. The Maintenance Mechanic performs a variety of specialized functions to include inspecting and making repairs and maintaining all facilities and park systems. Some of these systems include an off-grid water well and pumps for potable water, electrical systems with solar panels and battery storage systems, and gas and diesel generators. Duties will include responsibilities in various carpentry, painting, plumbing, electrical, and masonry projects. The Maintenance Mechanic will assist in cleaning and maintaining restrooms, picnic sites, visitor areas, and other structures. This position requires a valid Class C driver's license. You must answer the questions addressing your driver's license on your application. A T-1 or T-2 Water Treatment license desirable but not required for this position. This position is designated as not telework eligible. The selected candidate is required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan fingerprinting prior to appointment. Per California Code of Regulations (CCR) 599.961, this is a sensitive position, and therefore subject to drug and alcohol testing. It should be noted that testing is not mandatory, but is allowed to be conducted only if and when there is a determination of reasonable suspicion as defined in CCR 599.962. State housing is may be required. Special Requirement/Condition of Employment: Depending on the assigned location, the incumbent may be required to occupy state-owned housing to meet operational needs, or may be offered state-owned housing if available. Working in an outdoor environment where temperatures can reach above 100 degrees in the summertime and plumbing needs to be winterized due to freezing in the winter months. One of the state vehicles is equipped with a winch to assist in lifting heavy materials, however you will need to be able to lift 50LBS.
