Materials Handler Leader

This position serves as a Warehouse Worker Leader located within the Warehouse area of the Logistics Service in the Veterans Affairs Health Care System performing work that involves receiving, storing, selecting, and shipping general and/or specialized bulk and bin materials and equipment. The position serves as a lead over a group of Materials Handlers. Include but are not limited to: * Leads a crew to accomplish assigned projects and daily operational functions. * Ensures awareness of trade techniques and practices. * Demonstrates proper work methods and works along with others. * Provides staff with daily tasks and follows up to confirm completion. * Checks work while in progress and when finished. * Discusses with supervisor the training requirements, problems and other issues. * Assists in developing plans for storage and arrangement of stock. * Advises workers on guidelines or special instruction to meet deadlines; * Consolidates materials to provide maximum space utilization and protection of materials. * Coordinates incoming and outgoing shipments and placement of materials. * Serves as a senior member of the warehouse project team when involved with special projects.
