Nuclear Medicine Technologist (U) - Sign-on Bonus EligibleJob ProfileSummary ​This role focuses on using various imaging techniques and practices to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of addition, this role focuses on performing the following Nuclear Medicine duties:Utilizesradiation detection to examine internal organ function and structure.A clinical technologist role that has specialized knowledge or skills gained through a combination of vocational education, training, and experience.This role will be most commonly applied to patient care and/or scientific/laboratory jobs.An experienced level role requiring basic knowledge of job procedures and tools obtained through work experience and requiring vocational or technical education.Works under moderate supervision, works through problems of a routine nature, but may at times require interpretation or deviation from standard procedures and communicates information that requires some explanation or interpretation.Job Overview Under the direction of the clinical supervision, performstechnical aspects, stress tests and a variety of routine tests or patient procedures in the Nuclear Medicine Department.Demonstrates understanding of scientific principles and safe work practices associated with tests plies withJCAHO, Federal and State licensingdepartmentsand other regulatory body requirements.Responsible for maintaining ALARA andrequireddocumentation for the Nuclear Medicine radiation safety program.Job Description Minimum Qualifications: 1.Graduate of an accredited Nuclear Medicine, Radiological Technologist program. 2.American Registry of Radiological Technologist(ARRT) or Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification (NMTCB). 3. One(1)yearofexperience as aNuclear Medical Technologist. 4.Nuclear MedicineTechnologist License. 5.Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.Preferred Qualifications: 1.Two (2) years of experience as a Nuclear Medical Technologist.Duties and Responsibilities:Theduties and responsibilities listedbeloware intended to describe the general nature of workandare not intended to be an all-inclusive list.Other dutiesand responsibilitiesmay be assigned.1.Schedules patients for an efficient patient flow.Upon arrival of patient, checks patient records toinsurecompleteness of data andascertainswhether examination medications have been given. 2.Following physicians orders, prepares and calibrates radio pharmaceuticals and injects patients, using Technetium generator and other radio nuclides, dose calibrator and manual calculations.Sets up andmaintainsaccuraterecords concerningamountof and types of radioactivity given topatient.Positions patient relative to site specific equipment and adjustscontrolsas necessary.Is responsible formaking sure correct images are done on the computer by giving the correct commands.Bringsimages to Radiologist for interpretation when completed.Maintainsaccuraterecords which conform to N.R.C. regulations. 3.Conducts proper quality control procedures onRadio-pharmaceuticalsused as well as proper quality control of function of Gamma Camera and calibrator.Regularly cleans andmaintainsnuclear medicine equipment, reporting any equipment malfunctions promptly to proper people. 4.Uses proper technique when working with radioactive material to insure minimum exposure to patients,selfand others.Does quality control procedures, asrequired, andmaintainsproper records. 5.Performs Radiologic examinations and related department duties asrequested. 6.Successfully deliver competent care to patients in a continuum of ages from infancy to adult withandemphasis on geriatric patients. 7.Keeps abreast of changes and new developments in Nuclear Medicine service by reviewing journals, attending educational courses, seminars and/or professional meetings. 8.Participatesas a member of the Radiation Safety CommitteePhysical Requirements: 1.Frequent standing, occasional sitting, walking, andlifting30-35 lbs. 2.Requires manual dexterity using fine hand manipulation tooperateradiology equipment. 3.Hearing and visual acuity sufficient to perform examinations;observepatients, read monitors and documents, and hear audible equipment alarms.Skills & Abilities: 1.
