Family Practice/Primary Care Nurse Practitioner

UVA Health Remote within VirginiaUVA Health is seeking an experienced, autonomous Nurse Practitioner to join our new and innovative Virtual Care Clinic, providing high-quality patient care through a fully remote model while residing within the state of Virginia. Position Details Schedule: 32 patient-facing hours + 8 administrative hours (40 hours/week)Coverage Model: Three NPs rotate to provide 7-day coverage; schedule flexibility is essentialLocation Requirement: Must reside in Virginia and deliver care exclusively from within the stateTechnology:Reliable high-speed internet requiredComputer equipment provided by UVA Health Job Summary The Nurse Practitioner provides advanced clinical assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and patient management across a variety of virtual care settings. Working in close collaboration with the medical director, administrative leadership, nurses, and the interprofessional team, this role ensures seamless patient care within the UVA Health system. Key Responsibilities Perform comprehensive patient assessments and health historiesExercise independent clinical judgment in diagnosis and treatment within credentialed scopeOrder, perform, and interpret diagnostic tests (labs, imaging, etc.)Initiate CPR or emergency interventions when necessaryPrescribe medications and therapies in accordance with Virginia prescriptive authorityProvide patient and family education on conditions and treatment plansInitiate specialist referrals and consultations as neededDocument care accurately and assign appropriate CPT/ICD-10 codingParticipate in team reviews, professional development, and student education when applicableComply with UVA Health, CMS, and payer policiesFulfill all reporting requirements (e.g., communicable diseases, deaths, etc.)Additional duties as assigned aligned with independent NP practice Minimum Requirements Autonomous Nurse Practitioner license requiredGraduated from an accredited Master s-level Nurse Practitioner programMinimum 3 years of experience as an NPLicense or license-eligible as an Advanced Practice Provider in VirginiaActive RN license in Virginia (if NP)Current BLS certification; ACLS, PALS, or NRP as required for specialtyMust meet all UVA Health credentialing and Virginia Board of Nursing/Medicine requirements Physical Demands This role may require:Prolonged standing, frequent bending or stoopingRepetitive computer workAdequate auditory, visual, and communication abilitiesAbility to lift/push/pull lbsPotential exposure to noise, radiation, or infectious materials
