We are proud to have become a shining example of what's possible when the brightest professionals dedicate themselves to making a difference in the healthcare industry, and in people's lives.Work ShiftThe Executive Director of Nursing (EDON) is a registered professional nurse who provides leadership andmanagement for five (5) to twenty (20) cost centers for a specific service line through the application ofadvanced competencies in communication; job knowledge, professionalism and business skills. This executive isa member of the chief nursing officer's or AVP Nursing's administrative team and serves as their designee forassigned responsibilities. This leader effectively partners with hospital leadership, medical staff and otherdepartments to create a center ofexcellence for their service line and to meet the hospital's vision, mission and goals. This role has a range ofapproximately 200 – 600 FTEs in a medium or large complex case setting that is 350 to 800 beds. This EDONalso handles a budget with a range from 60 to 300 million dollars.The Executive Director of Nursing provides direct leadership for a group of nurse managers/directors ordepartments and who comprise their specialty service line. He/she is a standard bearer and holds leaders andstaff accountable for the delivery of safe, quality care and services through effective communication, fiscalaccountability, and employment of transformational leadership., instilling an accountability-basedpractice setting. The executive director of nursing serves as sponsor for performance improvement; inspiresothers to seek opportunities to grow and improve their performance and successful applies lean and evidencedbased practice to ensure all targets pillar outcomes are achieved. This executive employs all safety firstinterventions and as the chief safety officer creates a culture of safety for his/her service line through thedevelopment/use of these skills by other leaders, physicians and staff. He/she effectively uses data andtechnology to make decisions and proactively mitigates unnecessary risks for his/her area of responsibilityproviding instruction and mentoring for assigned leaders to be able to do the same. This executive ensures thatnurse managers and staff create a desirable, safe work environment that enables the organization to meet orexceed all licensure, regulatory and accreditation standards. He/She models the way by fostering exemplaryskills in attaining effective teamwork and collaboration with physicians, staff, patients and other departments.It is expected that all Nurse Leaders are licensed, knowledgeable and uphold the practice of nursing as outlinedby the Georgia Professional Nurse Practice Act and implements the Scope of Practice and Code of EthicsStandards put forth by the American Nurses Association. As a member of the patient services team, it isexpected the individual upholds the voice of the patient, system policies and procedures while supporting serviceexcellence goals.Required Minimum Education:Bachelor's degree in Nursing is requiredMaster's degree in Nursing is required, o other field of studyRequired Minimum Experience:12 years of experience as a registered nurse required and 5-7 years of progressive operational leadership in a manager or director level role required.Required Minimum Skills:Should possess excellent verbal and written communication skills and relationship buildinga knowledge of the health care environmentleadership that includes such skills as successfully implementing and managing a change process –ability to use systems thinking- and inspire, coach others to be successfulmodel the way for professional practiceprofessionalism and teamwork/collaboration for self/department/medical staffand possess necessary business skills to manage human and material resources.Must be a continuous learner who understands health care financingstrategy and operations for running a business unit(s)and effectively employ data and technology to support work processes and make decisions.Supports shared governance or shared decision makingmanage the design and delivery of care that in based on evidence and focused on quality andsafety.Knowledge of risk management and various accreditation/regulations/licensing requirementsassuring that these are upheld while advancing industry standards through the achievement of goalsby effective management and measurement of outcomes.Required Minimum License and Certifications:RN - Reg Nurse (Single State) Upon Hire is required and(RN-COMPACT - RN - Multi-state Compact Upon Hire is required orBLS - Basic Life Support Upon Hire is required andARC-BLS - Amer Red Cross Basic Life Support Upon Hire is required orBLS-I - Basic Life Support - Instructor Upon Hire is required orCurrently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Georgia or hold aprivilege to practice in the State of Georgia under the Enhanced NurseLicensure Compact (eNLC) required.Must have a current BLS card from the American Heart Association on thefirst day of employment in position required.National certification in nursing administration or clinical specialty preferred.Join us and discover the support to do more meaningful work—and enjoy a more rewarding life.
